IPEB AF Reservist Finally Received

I was "4T" last November and finally recieved the IPEB results last week. I am deemed unfit due to a knee problem.

In the letter it states that if I decline to elect FPEB (which I declined) then they will process a discharge or early retirement if I have 15 satisfactory years. I have 17 good years, 9 active duty and 8 reserve.

I assume that AFRC/AFPC will verify my eligibility for the 15-year retirement? Or do I have to notify them that I have enough good years to qualify for pension at age 60?

I just mailed back my decline for FPEB and the letter acknowledging my receipt of the IPEB determination.

I can't say for sure that they will, but I have seen AFPC send letters to people telling of them of their eligibility. I would think that your election would prompt the right process.

You understand that the retirement will kick in at age 60? Either a fit finding or a disability retirement would have been preferable to the two options you have. I don't know the facts of your case, so you may have, in fact, had an appropriate outcome. I just wanted to check to make sure you understood the whole situation.

Hi Jason. Thanks for your reply.

My knee "issue" is a non-LOD injury with a poor to fair prognosis even with surgery. My private ortho doctor wrote a report which was reviewed by the AMC doctor and he stated that I am not WW qualified, can't be mobilized and cannot perform duties of my grade, field, etc.

I am fine with the situation so long as I get my age 60 retirement pension (since I have 17 good years). I am not interested in VA disability since my conditions are all non-LOD. Nor would I be at all interested in any kind of severance. Just want to make sure that I get my age 60 normal reserve pension.

Jason, I received the paperwork from IPEB and relocations at Robins AFB (AFRC). They had a form included that was a retirement election form I filled out and returned. Apparently they process separation/discharge automatically and require the retirement election form to switch it to early retirement.
