IPEB Process Question

I apologize in advance because I am sure this has been asked before. I am being boarded for my knees (arthroscopic surgery followed by pain and complications) but the diagnosis for my back was worse. I have five broken transverse processes L1-L5. Will the PEB look at the whole write up that QTC did or just at my knees? Also, will I be notified as soon as I am found fit or unfit or will they wait for the VA to rate if unfit? I have been emailing these same questions to my PEBLO but she doesn't answer me. Thank you for your help.

the MEB is required to cover all conditions that are deemed unfitting for service. The VA will rate on conditions both fitting and unfitting. IF your air force you wont officially be told that youve been found unfit until the ratings come back. However, if your package gets sent to VA for rating then you were found unfit. Ive been in the IDES process for 243 days and still waiting
 
Thanks for the response. When you say "required to cover all conditions that are deemed unfitting" does that mean that the IPEB will go through all of my records or do they just look at what the QTC doctor writes up to find all of the unfitting conditions? Oh and I am Navy!
 
MEB/NARSUM is required to cover all conditions. They then forward your case/file to PEB. Only the PEB can make fitness determination and determine what conditions are unfitting. They will review all medical documents, not just your MEB narrative or NARSUM. Go through SECNAVINST 1850.4e and become familiar with it.
