Finally separated, have my 80% VA rating and currently looking for a job. Problem is I need a job fast, I cannot find a job in my location that will accommodate my disabilities. Should I apply for IU?? I feel my conditions are actually getting worse and my hope for a job is looking very bleak. Do I need to show that I've had emplyoment and couldn't handle it or should I go ahead and apply for IU.

You can file for IU but be careful, I volunteer at local VA office and have seen IU denied and ratings drop. But I have also seen IU approved. Most of those applying though have been out a while so they are re-evaluated, not sure this would apply to your case. I would go talk with my local VA rep and ask them my options.
