Hi all
I'm extremely frustrated atm. All I need is the NMA form to fill out. I have it, however, the pdf file it was sent to me as will not allow to save or email it. So, a link or advice on where I can find an editable version of the NMA?

If you email it to me at [email protected] (my private email, not my work email), I will see if I can "fix" it (my version of acrobat allows to change it to fillable, etc.; however, depending on what security they have on it, that may not work).

That said, NMA's usually come on letterhead from the commander. So, I am not sure you want to use the "form."

Just a little advice on your NMA since it sounds like you are writing it yourself, make sure in the language, you take in to consideration on what you what your outcome to be i.e. unfit or fit. I found out that mine should has been different. i had to write my own. I talked to legal after package was submitted and found out the way it was written might give the outcome i was not looking for.

Yeah, a big mistake I see is when people want an unfit/retirement finding and they spend all this time in the NMA writing about what a stellar Sailor/Marine they are. Then, the board oftentimes thinks, "well, he's not that disabled, the commander says he is a great performer." I would not spend anytime making your self "sound good" on paper. It doesn't help you get a correct rating and so long as you are eligible for compensation (i.e., your condition was incurred/aggravated in the line of duty), they already assume you are "deserving" (in the sense that you aren't a dirtbag). On the other hand, I have seen many cases where such statements worked against the member.

It's more of an art than a science writing these things. Just make sure you cover all the information that the board might need to come to a correct rating.
