Hey everyone! On Friday I requested an FPEB to get them to rate my two referred conditions separately, as they combined them when they rated me the first time. The PEB lawyer has given me a "to do" list and one of the things on there are personal statements from superiors/family describing how your condition has affected you. I'm just wondering if anyone out there might have their statements handy somewhere and be willing to share? Important information redacted for privacy reasons, of course. Also, if anyone has any advice pertaining to the entire process, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your time. @NAVYMA1
@maparker, The VA rated the cervicalgia at 20% and the radiculopathy at 30%. But the DoD ended up lumping them as one at 20%. Do you think FPEB is a smart move? Thanks Mike!
This is similar to my situation. The DoD rated me 20% for cervicalgia, and they rated my trap strain, radiculopathy and neuropathy together at 20%. My situation entailed the VA rating it as my non dominant side. My left side is my dominant, and they rated it as non dominant. I went through the formal board last week. I can tell you if you feel you have a strong disposition for a formal board, I would go for it. My lawyer added 2 additional unfitting conditions to my FPEB.
I can tell you, it was completely worth it to go for the formal. When I got there, I was hurting pretty bad. They took a break about 40 minutes into my hearing. It's painful for me to be seated for a long period of time. They got to see how it truly affects me. If it were me, I would go for the formal. I knew I wouldn't feel right if I didn't fight for what I deserve. Please feel free to message me if you have additional questions.
Thank you, all. I'm still waiting on a date, I requested the FPEB on the 20th of May. I've been busy in the mean time seeing my surgeon and having another EMG done. It's still quite an intimidating thing to take on, but I know it's in my best interests. My JAG requested I get the letters from coworkers, but everyone has asked for a template of some kind and I can't seem to find one anywhere so I don't know how much luck I'll have with those anyway. Hopefully I get assigned a date soon so I can at least start preparing myself mentally for all this. Thanks everyone for your input, keep the suggestions and advice coming, I need all I can get!
They didn't give me an exact timeline for my findings. My lawyer said to expect them fairly quickly, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will be soon.
To anyone reading this thread that's recently requested or been through FPEB, what's the timeline looking like to be assigned a formal board date? I requested mine May 20th and have yet to hear back about when I'm going to have to go out there. Thanks in advance!
