ALCON,

Has anyone used Lawyers Serving Warriors (LWS) in their fight for retirement? I have been contacted by LWS in regards to the way I seperated with no retirement, stating "you should have recieved at least 40% from the DOD". They (LSW) made contact two weeks ago and I have not heard anything since. Any further information would appreciated. Good luck to all and God bless.

Frank,
I just had my FPEB on 16 Dec and I used a lawyer from that program. She was AWESOME! Obviously I can't vouch for every lawyer that participates but my lawyer did a great job. The board commended her and myself for an excellent case presentation. It was so well that the board only asked me 4 questions beyond what my lawyer and I went through. It did take LSW a while to find a lawyer for my case due to the economic situation in the US but it worked out in the end!

I was fighting for retention in USAF but didn't get the result I wanted so my lawyer and I have taken the last step with an appeal to SAF. Worst case I'll end up with retirement at 30%... Good luck!

Poisonpanik,

Thank you for the response. I was contacted once again by LSW, regarding my case. They notified me that they are willing to take my case and that there may be a longer wait time due the area I reside and the amount of wounded warriors seeking assistance. They (LSW) seemed fairly optimistic about me recieving a higher rating and a retirement. I would like to thank all of the brave souls who have given so much and recieved so little. Keep on fighting and never quit.

Good luck! I was very impressed w/ my lawyer and I hope you get one quick so you have lots of time to communicate with them.

After reading your post this is the first time i've heard of LSW, i think it might be able to hlep me out. Sorry i do not have any advice for you but maybe you can help me. Here's my case. while in Iraq (sept-dec 2007) i developed a brain tumor the size of an orange. By the grace of god it was binign (non-cancerous), I was medivaced out of there to germany then to Wlater Reed. January 2008 i had surgery to have it removed. April 2008 i had another surgery to have titanium plate put in my head. I feel i'm fine i did lose some peripfhial vision and had some short-term memory loss after surgery. Its been two years and stil waiting for my MEB. The IPEB found me unfit for duty and recommended servance pay (20%disibility), i appealed to stay in but then the FPEB still found me unfit for duty and recommened servance pay but only (10%). I am appealling it again up to SECAF. I will get that result next month. Is it too late to use LSW since my case has already summitted to SECAF? well good luck to you.

Dang I wish I would this sooner....and of course with my luck they would have the message "We've hit our caseload limit" Grrrr......

Scott,
LSW wouldn't be of use to you since you've already completed your FPEB and are just awaiting your SecAF appeal.

Franky,
Sorry to hear that. I was very impressed with the work they did for me. Keep checking back as they may open up for more cases. GOOD LUCK!

For anyone else interested in LSW - APPLY EARLY!!! You can always say "Thanks but your services are not needed." if you get to that point but at least up to that point you know you've got someone in your corner.

I tried to go to the website but I am getting an error. Anyone know if that website has changed?

I think there must either be something with my local server or their server that is not working right now. Thank you and I will keep checking.....Wonderful info by the way, thanks!

JP,

Sorry to hear that. Even though I was contacted by them, I still wait patiently to meet with an actual LSW representative or a lawyer. I'm sure that you have contacted a Veteran Sservice Organization (VSO), but if not, they may be able to assist you with the PDBR or BCMR. If I can offer any advice, it would be to not give up, no matter how much you want to. Also, there is so much information on this board, with so many points of contact (POC's). Good luck, and if and when LWS contacts me, I will ask them what, why, when, where, and how they will be willing to aid us Disbaled Veterans and post on this tread. Good Luck.

ALCON,

Today I received a packet from the attorny's that will be handleing my case. The packet was pretty cut and dry with a couple of areas that left me with questions. There is a section that states that they (attorny) will decide whether to try a BCMR or PDBR. I questioned them on this, still waiting for an answer. There is also a section that states if others are in need of assistance to notify them and they (attorny) will identify if the person or persons are in need of help.

I know that there are people who have been turned down recently by LSW, so I will raise that question as well. I know that there is only so much the attorny's can accomplish, but here's to hope. Good luck to all and never quit. More to follow.

Frank,

Was this the lawyers working for LSW or the actual attorney assigned to your case? Odd that is says that "they" will decide if you go as far as BCMR or PDBR...

Poison,

The verbage was in the packet that the lawyer assigned to my case sent to me. Those are the questions that I am asking them. I do not have the exact term that states BCMR or PDBR, so I am not going to try and quote it. More to follow.
