Need some help. I have been thru 2 MEBs in my career. I had fought to stay in the Navy for the past 5yrs. But you know when it is time to let the system take you thru. I have been having bad back pain and right hip pain and some Major Depression. I have had problems with work to the point of it effecting how i think of things and how they say the understand what i am going thru but they turn around and do and say things behind my back because of my medical disabilities. I have been giving the command 110% and have worked the past 25 days with one day off. But because I do not do any group PT and Command PT with the command I am not a Team player but i have certain disabilities that would get worse if i do them. Before I had Knee replacement, Hip FAI surgery, Spinal Stenosis with Radio frequency burning of the nerve's and groin muscles ruptured I could run circles around them. When the PEB finds you fit to continue service but non-deployable and assign you a NEC of 00091 doesn't the gaining command know that something is wrong with the Sailor? and because of my grade and rank i can still do my job. I don't understand and i feel that i am not been given a fair shot with the current command i am at. When i go and see my doctor this week i am going to push to be put thru the MEB for my current conditions and push towards a medical retirement. I was curious to see what are the time lines for the the boards are? Does any body have any thoughts on this? I am in a weird situations and currently have 21yrs combined with reserve's and I have 15yrs active duty. I have been a hot running sailor up until my injuries and still continue to do the best job i can. Shoot i still work harder than some of the non-injured...lol

sorry to hear about your command not being understanding, I had the same issues with my command it's unfortunate. Do you have a current limited duty chit? If so does it state your limitations? I hope it gets better try to keep your head up it can be hard but stay positive. my timeline I was recommended for MEB in Feb 2014, went to the VA C&P exams in March found, unfit in May, and just got my ratings back last week. Hope this helps.

Indeed, I agree and commend your self-assessment to request a potential referral into the new DoD IDES MEB/PEB process! :)

As such, from a procedural viewpoint and to aide with building your new DoD IDES knowledgebase, please read the DoD IDES process in detail as referenced in my URL annotated below:

http://www.pebforum.com/site/threads/a-detailed-explanation-of-the-dod-ides-meb-peb-process.22807/

Lastly, please remain "positive proactive" while in the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process and never default acceptance to any injustices; fight then continue to fight some more until receipt of your desired expectations supportive via medical evidence and/or medical documentation! ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

I asked our Command Career Counselor and that is not a option for the Navy. I wish it was... When I talked to my Behavior Health doc and explaining everything that is going on in detail she wanted to pull me out of the environment almost immediately. But i wanted to hang in there and do what was right for my sailors and be there voice to senior leadership and they like having someone that cares about them and this is where it is getting me. My junior Sailors do not want me to go but i really think it is time to hang the hat and do right is right for me medically and so that i won't have a stroke at work!...lol.

At some point in a military service member's career, they will have to put their own medical healthcare as a priority especially if the medical condition(s) symptomatology has degraded to the point that it has affected their duty performance and/or their personal family life. ;)

As such, having a "stroke at work" doesn't help your assigned military organization; they will just replace you upon your potential non-return to full duty status in my opinion!

Indeed, it definitely seems that you need to concentrate on getting yourself medically healthy albeit which may lead to you remaining with your sailors afterwards to be their voice to senior leadership. Otherwise, please take care and concentrate on getting well!

Steele85 I have not thought about that. I will have to take a look into that because I could go down to WRNMMC. I am going to see my doc again and he is going to do the LIMDU paperwork and get that going and then follow up on doing a MEB soon after. Funny thing, I just got back from a impromtu visit to the doc office. I have been having pain in my lower right abdomen and they took X-rays and it shows that I am filled to the top with shit....I have a severe back up that it hurts really bad in the stomach. It is because of the pain medications that i am on. What is crazy is i didn't think that i was backed up because i was going #2 everyday.......they put me on another med to fix it...lets see..lol.. Thought i would share....I just hope i don't get fever or anything like that...
