If I've recieved a VA decision to recieve compensation, will I still need an LOD to be medically retired from the guard?
 
Yes. Service connection can be secondary to a condition incurred while in service. A LOD is required, by a strict reading of the regulations. However, if you are injured/disabled on orders of 31 days or more and have more than 8 years of active Federal Service, your conditions are compensable.
