Im in the ARNG and work as a full time technician. I've been a technician for going on 3 years.
I was in a accident in 2023 and recieved a LOD for a shoulder injury. A month ago they sent my packet up to the MED board and I was deemed unfit for duty. Im lost in the sauce trying to navigate this.
I have already recieved a 70% rating because in October I applied with the VA because of a reccomendation and just got that rating in April. I have been put on a Deadman profile basically and the doctors say my ROM loss is permanent.
I just got an email with several things to fill out and its overwhelming. At what point should I reach out to a lawyer? I tried researching the website one of these attachments had and it brings up west regions and im in the East. Counciling statement says I could lose my rating % and that scares me as im completely losing my job along side this.
I am also concerned about the Technician side because supervisor is saying I need to be in for 5 years to be vested. I've done lots of research this site and others and im seeing there is a 2 year vesting if its for a disabilty. This is in regard to the 60/40 after loss of employment.
Im also currently coming off a medication that I had adverse reactions to from the accident and want to apologize if none of what im saying makes sense. This could also be why im feeling so overwhelmed and lost. Its like zapping me.
I've done a lot of my own research but I keep forgetting it because its so much and I feel like maybe a lawyer would be helpful to keep me on track as well.
