24 Nov 14 - Formal board results (10% DoD 70% VA)
21 Nov 14 - Formal board
9 Oct 14 - Notified of informal PEB/MEB results (0% DoD 70% VA) , appealed for formal PEB/MEB
23 Sep 14 - Signed paperwork w/ my rebuttal to the NARSUM
12 Aug 14 - 22 Aug 14 - VA appointments

Reason for delay was I PCS'd Oct '13 and 1 volume of my medical records was not sent to current base, then when they did send it they sent it to the wrong base

27 May 14 - Met with PEBLO to sign initial paperwork
20 May 14 - PEBLO notified me of PEB/MEB status
7 Apr 14 - Recommended for PEB/MEB

I've been going through this process so long that a year has passed. I contacted my PCM a month ago as well as my PEBLO to find out if there was anything I needed to do and I was assured that everything would be taken care of for me. So here I am 3 days after everything coded to me was to expire and my codes have dropped off in the system as did my profile. Spoke with my PEBLO, she apologized and let me know if would take a few days to have everything back in place. I guess I'm worried for nothing because it's not like the AF will drop my PEB appeal at this point.

I'm really at the point where I just want an answer one way or the other so that my family and I can start making decisions for our future.

So it's been just over 6 months and I'm still waiting. Part of me is ready to concede and just move on. I feel like they're close to winning the battle and I'm worn out.

Are you fighting to stay in?

Fighting for my DoD rating to increase so I can retire. I hit the 19 year mark next month. I started at 0 and now I'm at 10%, hoping to be at 20% with the response from the SECAF and then going for the VA one-time reconsideration. The VA didn't service connect (or rate) my referring condition. I have additional documentation from my cardiologist that will hopefully get them to change their decision.

Did the DoD provide a rating since the VA didn't service connect? Even though the VA may have come up with an EPTS or similar determination that made it non service connected, the 8 year rule still requires the DoD to compensate if it is found unfit.

I need to look at my paperwork I remember a mention of it being treated as 0%.

Here is part of their response:

"Service connection is not proposed for palpitations with chest pain etiology unknown but occasionally associated with inappropriate sinus tachycardia because this condition is not eligible for service connection.

A review of your service records and VA examination reveal palpitations with chest pain etiology unknown but occasionally associated with inappropriate sinus tachycardia. In your case, your condition is not connected to an underlying cardiac condition. Sinus tachycardia is usually a physiologic (that is, normal, or expected) response to something unrelated to heart disease, with common causes being fever, anemia, exercise, stress, shock, hyperthyroidism. In your case, there is no evidence your case is linked to an underlying disease."

My issue is they go on to say "A higher evaluation of 10 percent is not warranted unless evidence shows: - continuous medication is required or a workload of greater than 7 METs but not great than ten METs results in dyspnea, fatigue, angina, dizziness, or syncope"

I am on continuous mediation, have been for several years now. Also my last stress test was ended due to fatigue and I was at 7 METs. My VA C&P exam consisted of no more than 15 minutes of me talking with a doctor. He did not do any tests and had admitted that when I got there he had just looked at my medical records (which was the reason I was taken late, he took 15 minutes to review 4 volumes of my medical records.)

Talked with my PEBLO today and she let me know they just received results from SECAF on an appeal that was submitted in August '14. Based on that she said I shouldn't expect anything until around February '16.

Just need to vent some frustration out... Last week my unit had a SNCO meeting and without getting into all of the details of it I realized I needed to talk with my new Superintendent and First Sergeant. It turns out neither of them knew that I was going through a medical board, which according to them means my new squadron commander probably is not aware either. How the h*** does this happen???? All 3 of them took over within the last 5 months. I have always felt that those of us going through this process are alone but this really hit a nerve with me.

In other news I'm still waiting. I've been in IDES for 610 days and counting.

I would hang in there a little longer to make it to 20 year. Looking at your posts I think you are around 19 year and 5 months. I am sure you are already aware that you get retirement once you hit 20 year and your pay will be thousands of dollars higher. Please hang in there you are close.

If you've been fighting to stay in longer, the formal appeal to SECAF is a great route to delay the process. If you are trying to get out, what percentages are you expecting?

I have no choice but to hang on. I fully expect SAFPC to come back with a separate decision. I will continue to fight for my retirement. I am just tired of the lack of support from within my unit, base and service.

My appeal has been with SAFPC for just over a year. I don't think I'll be delayed much longer in this process. All I am fighting for is to stay in until I reach my 20 year mark (summer of 2016). I will not accept medical separation with severance.

Good to hear that you will be fighting for it. With the 20 days of PTDY plus all the days you have acquired its seem that you will hit the 20 year mark easily. But in the same time, you have already been in the process for a long time so I would just research now to take action if it does come early. Its just about 3-4 months that you need to delay.

SAFPC responded today and they are leaving my ratings as is. Feeling very overwhelmed right now. I requested the VARR and timing worked out that I have a cardiology appointment tomorrow (been scheduled since July). PEBLO is still optimistic and feels the VARR will take a while, one of her other 'clients' has been waiting on those results since October. After that I'll be requesting LAS. I can't believe I've come this close to be told to separate.

E-Benefits has changed 3 times since the beginning of the year.

20 Jan 16 - e-Benefits - Estimated Date of Completion - 7 Feb 16 - 30 Apr 16
29 Feb 16 - e-Benefits - Estimated Date of Completion - 17 Jun 16 - 13 Sep 16
11 Mar 16 - e-Benefits - Estimated Date of Completion - 26 Sep 16 - 2 Jun 17

I reach my 20 year mark in July. I expect that I will be extended but no clue how long they'll do it for. Anyone know if there is any guidance in terms of extension due to MEB? I'd ask my PEBLO but she's out of the office right now.

Also found out today that my attorney is PCSing, not sure how much this will affect me given where I am in the IDES.

Tomorrow marks day 731 (2 years plus 1 Leap Year Day) in the IDES.

Not going to lie I know this process has taken a toll of me and not in a good way. I'm more withdrawn from just about everything I used to do. I feel anxious and uncertain. I'm worried about how this will work out and most importantly how I'm going to provide for my family if I am separated as opposed to being retired.

So it's been over 2 years since this started. Again my profile and code dropped off the system...My PEBLO is great, it's my latest PCM that is slacking on updating my information.

As of today I have 97 days until I reach my 20 year mark. Trying to feel hopeful at this point is difficult.

Well how much leave do you have? You can get 20 days of PTDY to job/house hunt and if you have 60 days of leave, you will be good. It take about 3-4 weeks for orders, then 20 days to out process. So you will hit your 20. Congrats. Now just to hope your VA is over 50%
