Luke AFB Timeline

Well how much leave do you have? You can get 20 days of PTDY to job/house hunt and if you have 60 days of leave, you will be good. It take about 3-4 weeks for orders, then 20 days to out process. So you will hit your 20. Congrats. Now just to hope your VA is over 50%

My VA is over 50% as of right now. I am curious if I make the 20 year mark if I have to go through all of the C&Ps again or if they'll let everything stay as is.

As far as my leave goes, I have 36 days plus the 20 permissive and whatever they project to out-process. It's still no guarantee, I'm way more of a pessimist having been in this process for so long. If I haven't receive my VARR decision by June 1st, I will be automatically extended on June 2nd. I hope if I reach that day I will be able to breath a sigh of relief, if only for a few minutes.

Cautiously optimistic that I'll reach the 20 year mark and beyond at this point... I have 61 days left before my 20 year mark and I'm still waiting on the response for my VARR. I signed paperwork in March allowing the AF to extend me, it's supposed to be officially initiated tomorrow. I'm hoping it's a simple process but expecting there to be issues.

Med Hold Extension email received on Tuesday. I had my commander sign my extension form today. Reenlistments/Extensions told me it will take approx. 24 hours to update in the system.

Denmom...I have been biting my nails reading through this thread. You're so close--looks like you'll make it. I believe the leave you have yet to earn will put you over the top. Delay any further steps to ensure you hit that 20!

Struggling internally today... This morning as I was putting my uniform on I began to think about how I'm supposed to be on my permissive/terminal leave at this point. I am grateful to know that I will reach my 20 year mark (and then some at this point) but I am feel frustrated today. Not many people outside of you all understand the frustration with this process. I just needed to get it out there.

Soon it'll be over and it'll seem like a bad dream.

I am in a similar situation, I am at 19 years and 5 months and I am hoping that I am able to stretch this out to 20. I am sweating bullets and don't understand how they can take someone who is so close to the end and jerk them around. I have given 20 years to the AF and hopefully they see fit to give me a few more months. Good luck in your situation!

I don't understand why. If your are at 19+ years should presumption of fitness kick in? This allows you to make to to retirement.

Found out today that my VARR was returned to AFPC on 1 Mar 16 and then sent to SAFPC for review. It's still there for review. No clue as to how long it will take or why it's there to begin with.

PEBLO just called, my VARR results are in. Have an appointment with her this morning.

Received updated MFR & AF Form 356 from SAFPC. They agreed my heart condition should in fact be rated at 30% as opposed to the original no rating I received. Permanent Retirement approved. PEBLO said I should have my orders in 2 weeks and expect to last day in AF to be at the end of October.

I can't believe it took 27 months to get here but I am so glad it worked out. Thank you all for everything (help, support, guidance, etc).

Congrats Denmom! Your retirement day is probably the same as mine!

Congrats Denmom. Will you be over 20 years? I'm really glad everything finally worked out for you!

Thank you. I will be over 20 years, since my 20 year marks is in 20 days.

If you don't mind answering, when did you receive your orders? Just trying to figure out my timeline.

Thanks

My orders came through today and I'll be retired as of 28 Sept 16

Was hoping mine was going to be 28 Oct. Because it's 28 Sep I'm not going to be able to take all of my permissive, not very happy about that but it's a small loss in the grand scheme of things.

Again, Congratulations!

I'm glad you made it! Congrats! I just started the process. Does it normally take that long to complete? Even if it did for me, I wouldn't reach 20. I'm currently at 15.5 yrs. I'm not sure if I can ride it out for 4.5 more. Like you, I'm concerned about how infill provide for my family. If I have to be released, I hope to make the 30%.

Again, congrats!

Thank you. I believe my timeline is very outside the normal/average timeline. I knew from the beginning I wanted to be able to retire. I appealed at every step and that's what made it take so long, the appeal to SAFPC alone took 13 months. All I can say is to research everything, the military's process (regulations, instructions, etc), the VA process, etc. I truly believe looking into everything I could get my hands on was what helped me through this process. That and the support of my family.
