Hello folks,
I am trying to navigate through my unique situation. Currently, my command is looking to possibly send me off to an MEB. About a year ago i was diagnosed with SLE Lupus. It has been a real pain when my flares occur and often times incapacitate me for long periods of time. Obviously, I have several concerns because I am about to reach my 9 year mark in the Reserves with only one 400 day deployment overseas. Here are the facts:
I am currently rated with the VA @ 60% (Service Connected from Afghanistan)
I currently heavily rely on Tricare for my family of 5 and I
I heavily rely on the current compensation that I receive from the VA
I received a bonus when I last reenlisted approximately for 6 additional years about 3 years ago.
I guess what I want to figure out is what happens next? I believe that my lupus will warrant a rating of 60% and above. How will this corroborate with my current VA rating? What happens next? My overall goal was to retire from the military with 20+ years and now that seems very difficult given this diagnosis. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
