MADIGAN ARMY MEDICAL CENTER

As far as Madigan it will vary from person to person but I know from experience with my husband that nothing at Madigan runs smoothly and if there is any way at all that they have an out, they will take it. Examples include being told that we don't have to wait for him to be cleared by his ortho surgeon before they start his MEB depsite only being 2 months into 12 month recovery, they will just find another reason that makes him unfit for duty...starting an MEB and "fast-tracking" him despite us protesting while he has had only part 1 of a 2 part surgery and had to wait 6 months for part 2....MULTIPLE docs telling him he has PTSD and treating him as such and even the first psych. the meb sent him to saying he did but he needed a second consult to determine whether or not it made him unfit, only to be told by the second doc that he only has a mild "general anxiety disorder". They don't have to label him as unfit if he is not but they could atleast diagnose it as it is. Those are only a handful of our personal bad experiences. I'm sure there are some good experiences out there but the stories we hear are more often bad than good. It is really sad that these guys gave up as much as they did to support our country and this is what the Army gives them in return. Sorry if that is not the answer you were hoping for.

MAMC is not that bad as far as the MEB goes. Just be prepared to wait, wait, wait. The best advice I can give you is to bug the heck out of the MEB techs and the PEBLO's this seems to give them more incentive to get "rid" of you. I am currently going thru an MEB at MAMC, and I am in the WTB here at Ft. Lewis. If you are in the WTB then my advice is to take full advantage of the Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC). They have everything that you need located in one place. As far as the MEB goes I have seen some people progress right along and everything seems to run as smooth as greased lightning, however I have seen things run as fast as molasses runnning up hill in January. It all depends on your case. I advise you to take charge of your medical care and board as much as possible and constantly check in with the MEB guys atleast twice a week to check on statuses this will ensure that your packet does not get lost in the pile and you have to start over because the data is too old.

Ehhh..... Madigan sucks.

Number one piece of advice I can give you. Get a lawyer now. TAPE RECORD EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

These people break more rules then are even written.
