May IPEB AF Packages

My Husband's Package just got sent to Lackland on May 5 2011. Hoping for a quick turn around, many things were included. Severe Sleep Apnea, Severe Uncontrolled Asthma, Diabetes, Migranes, Hearing Loss.
We are hoping for more then 30% for retirement. Thinking that shouldn't be to hard, but who knows this is the Military.
I will keep everyone posted on how fast or things go for us.
Thank you for reading my post!

My case was sent off on May 8 with narcolepsy and OCD.

Peblo said to expect 3-7 weeks. Her last came back in four, the one before that three.

Really hoping for an unfit condition, commander's letter and mine both requested it. Doctor's were sorta ambivalent on it.

My husbands Commander and his own also requested unfit and perm. retirement. I really hope you get what you want! Keep us updated!!

My package was sent May 3rd but it was in the afternoon so I'm thinking more like May 4th. My PEBLO told me that I should expect 60 days, 30 days for orders, and 90 day outprocess and leave. After twisting his arm, he felt that mine would be back in 4 weeks and orders in 2 to 3 weeks. My case manager feels about 4 weeks for a response but the other case manager said they have been coming back in 2 weeks. Now, one thing important here is that I was told they do the people with PTSD first and I have that diagnosis. DO NOTget hung up on the dates, things change and schedules vary. Good Luck.

I DON"T RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE DO THIS.

I signed my 618 on 3 May. Hopefully it left that same day or the next. 3 conditions heading off to the IPEB - Chronic PTSD (combat related), internal derangement of the right knee and lower back issues.

Hopefully it won't take AFPC too long to turn mine around. I'll keep you all updated on what I hear back.

How did you contact or get info from your case manager?

I was assigned a case manager who works in the hospital to oversee my medical records, conditions, and ensure all tests were performed. I thought everyone were assigned a case manager but it could be that I just have that many issues. I also work in the hospital and I go with her when I have a question. I really don't get good answers but that is life.

Ah, well, at least that's better than nothing. I would figure with the age of all of the vMPF stuff, that there would be a link somewhere on the portal where I could find the status of my package without having to call and never get in touch with my PEBLO.

I figured the same thing, I even asked the PEBLO that question as well. I'm trying to just put it out of my mind and continue on. I swear these doctors need to stop looking at me because they keep finding more wrong. The ENT Dr told me we need to get this new issue to the IPEB because it is most likely disqualifing, I really did not know I was this bad off.

No kidding...every time I turn around now, something else is broke. 3 items going to my IPEB, but I already have 23 items for the VA. Ugh! I really feel old now.

I think they are trying to kill me. Did that sound crazy and can someone let mental health know.

And I have a fun appointment tomorrow with the gastroenterologist! Now that's one I'm looking forward to.

I was on my way to gracefully separate from the AF after 11 years when several things from my medical past cropped up to trigger an MEB (specifically, sleep apnea and predicted Crohn's disease). While the allure of medical separation/retirement is much preferred over the regular separation I was pursuing at the end of my service commitment, it's officially thrown my entire year into chaos. I had a job lined up, terminal leave plans, and even was looking at apartments where I'm going to be moving.

Everything I've been hearing regarding the MEB (and, in my case IDES) is that it could take 4-6 months once started (I still have a month before they start mine--we're waiting on sleep study results to come back), but everyone here seems to be looking for a 6-8 week turn around, even for fairly complicated packages. Are you guys seeing AFPC really handle the review and ratings process that fast? Or am I missing something (very likely...this is all very, very new to me).

Thanks!

I was told my package was to be sent to the the first part of Oct 2010. My package finally made it to the MEB the 3rd of May and mailed to the IPEB and it still isn't complete or accurate. I had reasons to sign it and get it going but I also have over 20 yrs AD. They (MEB) gave me a time line and I don't believe it, and I am face crap from leadership daily as well. The system is broke and although they claim they are trying to fix it I don't believe it will any time soon. The best thing anyone can do is make sure there package is correct and don't worry to much about the timeline. I'm very negative about this whole process and I apologize to all of you, I'm trying not to say to much. My Commander won't let my PCM re-issue my profile that he signed last time and everyone denies they stopped it from going through. I'm heading to the IG and I will stay on AD until they get it all right and I let them know it in a respectful way. I am also bringing up more health issues and more appointments. I'm trying to see how much time I can spend away from work and fighting back. I ask, which appointment don't you want me to go to? They never answer.

narco-

Those 6 to 8 week turnarounds are for non-IDES folks, and that's the timeline once the IPEB is submitted until you get the results. The longest part (often) for the IPEB is all the crapola that's gotta get done in order to submit the package.

I, too, was an IDES'er. AF too. From initiation of the MEB to the IPEB findings was right at 11 months. Just plan on a year. If it happens faster, cool. But most likely you can just bump all your plans to NEXT summer. (My IPEB timeline is detailed in the Dec 2010 timelines thread.)

After 2 weeks of trying to pull the teeth of my PEBLO, I finally found out my MEB package was sent to AFPC on 5 May. I wouldn't think that it would be that difficult to give me that date. Arrgghh!!!!

Ed,

I'm, with you! My PEBLO said she hopes to have some good news for me this week. My package was also sent on May 5.

Really nervous, but hoping for the best.

Good luck to all.
