Once I am into this process and elected to go the IDES route, is there anyway to be returned to duty? This whole situation is so confusing and convoluted to me. Long story short, I was on a profile for IBS/pelvic floor problems (no OCONUS deployments due to possibly having to rely on eating MREs for a long period of time) and hearing loss (sudden due to gunfire). I was referred to the med board where a full MEB was advised. I have nearly 15 years active and 21 total (guard here). I WANT to remain serving throught my 20 for retirement but at this point, even if things were to improve and I were deployable worldwide, can I be returned to duty? My Commander said do not retain at the time of the CIS. It breaks me to know I cannot fulfill my career I have made when I am able to perform my duties as expected at home. I wear hearing aides to help, but I still hear without them (have trouble in loud enviornments and have tinnitus). I dont know if Limited Duty is attainable for me if my Commander does not want to retain me?
