Good Morning,
I was put in for a MEB only 5 months after my spinal fusion of L-4, L-5, L-5, S-1. I am now only 4 months from the full year that it takes for a fusion to completely heal and I would like to stay in the navy. I do plan on appealing it if it comes back as Unfit. Do you think I have a good case if I am able to do the next PRT. It is getting better but its taking time to heal as it is supposed to. Thanks for any input.

Given the fact that you haven't even had the full year to heal, you should have a good case.

However, how long were you non-deployable prior to the surgery? Also, you say you were put in for an MEB. Does that mean they did up the whole package and sent it forward, or did they only tell you they have started the process?

I know for the AF, when our package finally goes to the Informal Board, we can include a statement, rebuttal, etc with our package if we want to.

Thanks for the input. I just came back from sea duty and once I came to shore that's when I became no deployable. Since I been on shore duty I haven't been deployable but I still have 2 years left here. You are able to go out to 18 months before you have to be put in for a medical board technically. So my package has been submitted it was submitted in January so I know I have a long way to go. I have already been to the VA for rating and did my C&P exam.
