MEB Video eval Walter Reed

Hello all! I'm new to the forum so please bare with me....

I was recently referred for a MEB for PTSD and herniated discs in my neck. Since the Behav Health Dept at Ft Bragg initiated this I have to do a Video interview with a Doc from Walter Reed to get the MEB going. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've already been diagnosed with depression and PTSD both here at Bragg and at an inpatient facility so I am wondering why this video conference is necessary. I am told that this is supposed to be an expedited process but it sure doesn't seem like it.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Thats what they told me I was going to have to do here at Eustis. Instead they brought a doc from Frot Lee. It's about two hours long. They ask you EVERYTHING. Including all medical history on active duty, all about your life growing up, all about your current conditions and so forth. I found it to be quite a waste of time and have no idea what it was for either. I had my appt on 12 April and haven't heard from them since. My psychiatrist said after that appt. they would give me a permanent profile if that doc agreed with my diagnosis and so forth. I wonder how a doc can conclude on a diagnosis in just a two hour interview. I hate talking to new people every month about my issues, and I know most soldiers do. It's kind of hard to open up to someone in just two hours.

Please let me know how this turns out. I just turned my packet into Ft bragg as well and I am waiting on the walter reed video conferance appt. I wonder why I have to do this also I have been diagnosed by LCSW, psychologist a head psychatrist at a big university my commander says I'm not fit and have PTSD, TBI plus a few other things. They have all diagnosed me with the same exact thing. So I am kind of interested on how yours goes I will post aas soon as I have mine and let you know how it went.

I had my two hour interview at 0800 then had neuropsych test until about 1630 with an hour or so break. My feedback session is scheduled. I understand there is a 12-15 page report that the neuropsych from Walter Reed will discuss with me. Anyone have a combination of these two? The video and then the testing. Is there something I should know before going into the feedback session?

I just got back from a routine psych appt a little after a month after the "video eval" type appt. Make sure you get your commanders letter done rate after. It will hold up the process. They just told me today, I asked why they didnt call my company , and they had no dam answer for me....WTF? How are we supposed to know what to do is they dont tell us?

I have my appt set with the shrink from Walter Reed June 6th. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I was told early on to have the commanders letter done so I guess I'm lucky.

I am going through the same thing they have to initiate the MEB for me as well. I have already been diagnosed with PTSD from 3 different independent civilian doctors, M TBI, and Deppression I am waiting on paperwork from civilian doctors. I have my commanders evaluation finished and turned in. If anyone goes through this let me know how it goes and any advice on it. If I go before anyone I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks and good luck.

So I had my VTC with a doc from Walter Reed who agreed with my med history and "formally" diagnosed me with PTSD. It only took about 45 minutes and was mostly formal question he had to ask me as well as a few questions based of my commanders statement (DA 7652) and from my docs at Womack.

So now I have another VTC this coming Monday with a different doc at Walter Reed for my NARSUM. I find this a bit confusing because I haven't had any physicals and haven't been assigned a PEBLO. I am being told that the psych NARSUM is different and my other disqualifying conditions (Neck and mTBI) will be done seperately. Can anyone clarify this for me? I thought a NARSUM was done once all of the other appts. and paperwork were out of the way.

For those of you facing a VTC with Walter Reed do not worry. The doc I saw really seem to go off the comments from my Army and Civilian doctors and my commanders statement.

Thanks!

Well I didn't have the same experience at all. The Doc I had Didn't know what a CIB was, asked it I ever got in trouble right after I told her that I just got a Good Conduct Medal, wasn't familiar with the Army at all and was only concerned if I had worked with the Marines and received a Silver Star or a Bronze Star. I felt like I got someone out of retirement and the cheapest contractor..........

scocamhunt,

Any update on PEBLO? Yes, your neck and TBI will be done separate your psych NARSUM.

First off, many thanks to Ceilingfan. He was a huge help w/ my commander's letter/DA7652 (which I had to write). I owe you man!

Yes!! Finally moving forward. I have my Phase 1 physical next week! I am being told, though I don't believe it, that since my MEB was initiated by Psych that it will move a bit quicker. Either way I am happy things are moving along.
