Hi,
I was a fairly active member of the forum prior to my retirement and it was very helpful. In the past
16 months I've been on a bit of a roller coaster. Scheduled for neuro stimulator then Neuro Surgeon killed in a plane crash, ad nauseum... Pending divorce, changed VA regions from STL to Louisville, moved back to Ky.
I"ve finally got a CandP Exam Scheduled for 13 MAY. These are my questions.
1.) Does the DA199 mean anything to the VA or will I be reevaluated for all conditions.
2.) What should I do in preparation for my exam? I was told by the VA that fasting isn't required (I've got pretty recent labs from VA).
3.) What's the process following Exam? Is it "wait out?"

I appreciate any assistance,

Are you PDRL? What did the letter from VA say the appointment was for? You should be able to call the VA hospital where you appointment is at and find out exactly what they will be looking at. If you have several conditions, I can't imagine them looking at all of them same day.

If you have been using Tricare and going to private docs for treatment of any of your conditions, you may want to take those records to your exam.

Really, there's no process after the exams...just have to wait it out, like you said. You can appeal once you receive ratings determination; but, before then, there's not much to do.

Welcome back to the PEB Forum!:)

In addition, my opinion only, it's in your best interest to obtain a copy of the DoVA C&P Examination results upon availability for review. Other than that, it's like ceilingfan and yourself previously stated.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Ceilingfan and Warrior, thanks! Yes, PDRL. I also was awarded SSDI while still in the WTU.

I've already had hearing and psych exam and am scheduled for Sleep Lab, where I imagine they'll pull data from my CPAP machine to see how much I use it (90% of the time). My PEB rated me unfit for three separate conditions, each at 20%, giving me a combined 50%.

I stopped by the DAV in Lexington, KY, VAMC today and they were covered up with trying to get other Vets rides home.

A little apprehensive since my experience thus far would make a Battalion Aid Station look like the Mayo Clinic.

Thanks,

Thanks,
So it's just a re-evaluation for VA rating purposes; DoD is no longer involved?
If that's the case I would do as others stated above: have all records ready if needed and contact them ASAP to ensure what the exam is for.

No, this is my first ever VA exam. Filed claim when I retired, 16 months later...

No worries, it's all good! :)

OK, please continue your current efforts and healthcare treatments.

Moreover, since being awarded SSA SSDI, have you viewed your SSDI case file? It may contain useful medical information which is clear objective evidence to lend assistance with upholding and/or increasing any potential DoVA disability compensation.

At the least and based upon the reasons for the SSA SSDI "disabled" determination, you shall obtained a detailed explanation if any follow-up SSDI reviews are required so it's NOT a surprise upon receipt of any potential SSA SSDI re-examination correspondence. ;)
