Medication Missed on Initial Med Board

Hi, I went through the med board process last year and, fortunatly, was able to be retained with an ALC-C code and an annual med board requirement. I had great leadership who assured me that as long as nothing got worse the annual med boards were no big deal and more of an exercise in paperwork. Well, I just PCS'd and found out that my PCM didn't list one of my medications (Xolair) on the med board even though I had been taking it at the time. Now the med group at the new base wants to med board me for this medication and says that it is virtually guaranteed that I will be kicked out. I am physically better than I was during the last med board and the AF already said its ok that I'm non-deployable and retained me with an ALC-C code and a permanent profile. Is there any hope that I can stay in? I don't see why it is an issue since it doesn't change my status at all. Is there anything I need to do to address this issue? My only other option is to stop the Xolair and possibly be med boarded for uncontrolled hives and asthma.

Your treatment appears to be helping. Hives and asthma as a reaction to an allergen can become worse and can negatively effect airway viability. So monkeying with the medication doesn't sounds like a great idea to me. Life and health ought to priority #1.

I suggest you get your chain of command online to help you with a strong NMA statement. Continue to demonstrate your value to your organization. Be a rock star at work. Talk to your supervisor and your shirt. Ask to talk your commander. Get your team lined up.

My story so far.I am in the army. I am getting medboarded for asthma ,taking xolair shots and steroids and bunch of other meds. I don't know if they are going to retain me or kick me out. Asthma is no joke and most likely they are going to kick me out based on the medications I am on.

Thanks! What is an NMA statement? My supervisor is of the opinion it's no big deal because they will just go off of what the commander says but, while I appreciate the support, feel that is a very naive statement to make and overly optimistic. Has anyone been allowed to stay while on Xolair? I have been overdue for several weeks now and haven't died but do feel like a sick person again.

Good luck! I didn't realize the Xolair would be such a big deal when starting because it replaced like 5 other meds for me. It really is a life changing med so I really hope I don't have to discontinue it to keep my job.
