Here is my AF Timeline so far, it's been a long road for me and it appears that it will still take a little longer. I'm an AF Reservist 33.5 yrs TIS, 22 yrs AD.

Jan 2010 Returned from deployment, LOD initiated for issues with feet, requested to extend AD orders
Feb 2010 AD orders ends first week and surgery to my right foot on 3d week
Jun 2010 Surgery to left foot
Aug 2010 LOD complete ILOD
Aug 2010 Recieved call from Nurse Practioner who did my post deployment health assesment, she advised that I see my physician for some mental health issues identified PDHA
Sep 2010 Appt with AF Flight Surgeon who referred me to an off base Psychiatrist
Oct 2010 Physical Therapy for feet
Nov 2010 Diagnosed with PTSD by civilian Psychiatrist Dec 2010 Appt with AF Flight Surgeon, LOD initiated for PTSD
Feb 2011 Rreferred to AF civilian Psychologist at other AFB for psychiatric evaluation, confirms DX of PTSD
Apr 2011 LOD complete for PTSD, ILOD
28 Jun 2011 Placed on AD orders, AFMOA stipulated that only way to approve orders were if I agreed to go to Wilford Hall at Lackland AFB for psychiatric evaluation
5 Jul 2011 Two AF civilian Psychologist confirm DX of PTSD
14 Jul 2011 IDES counseling by PEBLO over phone, PEBLO located at Lackland AFB, I'm in CA
Sep 2011 Applied for SSDI
Oct 2011 Dignosed with OSA by Pulmonologist after sleep study and prescribed CPAP
Nov 2011 SSDI approved
12 Dec 2011 Appointment at Wilford Hall for psychiatric evaluation by AF civilian Pyschiatrist
Jan 2012 Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by Rheumatologist. Physical Therapy started for lower back
Jun 2012 Three C&P Exams
Jul Two C&P Exams
6 Jul 2012 Signed AF Form 618, Medical Board Report, package off to IPEB
18 Oct 2012 VA Completes Proposed Rating Action and Benefits Estimate Letter
8 Nov 2012 IPEB completes Findings and Recommended Disposition
21 Nov 2012 Informed by PEBLO's office by emaill
26/27 Nov 2012 Consulted with attorney with Disability Counsel Division

I only had one referred condition: PTSD 70%; all others were CAT II
70% AF 100% VA

Congrats on almost being done with this process. I have been found "unfit" and am just waiting for the VA to forumalate ratings. Getting frustrated because everytime I contact the VA they say they are still waiting on evidence. (QTC Exams) Even though I did them months ago.
 
Decided to go to Formal PEB after consulting with Air Force Disability attorney. I want to add a few of the CAT II Conditions to CAT I.

Satisfied with the 70% AF and 100% VA, but there were some errors on the AF Form 356 that I want corrected and I was hoping that it could have been done administratively.
 
I respect your decision to go with a formal board, but don't quite understand it. That is a pretty big risk to net 5% more in DOD retirement. Not sure what your rank is, but but 5% is not going to equate to a lot. If your base pay was $6000 per month, it would be $300 a month additional. The FPEB could take away just as easy as they can give.

What was your rationale for going FPEB? Just curious is all. I truly hope everything goes well and is speedy.

My counsel advised me that my current rating is not in jeopardy because I am NOT contesting it. I'm not contesting the rating for my only unfitting condition, 70% PTSD.
I opted for a Formal Board so that I can add Fibromyalgia, OSA w/CPAP, Spondylosis of the Lumbar Spine, and Cervical strain to my unfitting conditions. Secondly I want a few items on my AF Form 356, DA 199, corrected. E-9 over 33 yrs.

Maybe Jason or Mike will chime in, but I am pretty sure that if you go to a formal board, everything is on the table. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard of being able to appeal only parts of the result. Again, Jason, who is a PEB lawyer can tell you for sure.

Thanks for your service to the AF. My uncle retired as an E9 and I know how hard that is to achieve in the AF. I chose a different path than him and served in the Army as an NCO (E7) and then my last five years as a Warrant. It's a hard road and I have a lot of respect for somebody who laid it out there for 33 years.

Anyone out there with experience going through a Formal Board to add unfitting conditions. I would greatly appreciate the insight. It would be helpful in deciding to continue.
