My PEB

Maybe, maybe not. Normally the PEB gets the case back once the VA provides the ratings. If your MEB did not cover your ankle that is a problem which you might have to address in the appeal process.

How long does the PEB usually have the case before I can sign for my findings? I really want to seperate before the holiday season but everything seems to be taking a while.

My PEBLO is telling me 45 days after that he'll start making phone calls he also said most of his cases are less than a month but mine will likely be longer because of the amount of conditions and my complicated wrist injury but really there does not seem to be any definitive dates for anyone

45 days? Are you referring to being found fit or unfit? I've already been found unfit by the PEB and rated by the VA. All I'm waiting on is to sign for my findings. I was told the PEB has it again and want to know how long they sit on it before my PEBLO gets it.

PEB should have it for 15 days or less, however there is a backlog right now.

i believe their main role is deciding what your unfit conditions are, final decision other than appeals, and what you qualify for with permanent or temporary disability and if they're going to medically retire you ( over 30 % DOD rating, get a retired ID card, tricare for life, base priveledges for life ) or medically separate you with a lump sum ( less than 30% DOD rating )

It's just the order of operations...

After PEB it will go to the PDA
What is the PDA? And how long does my case stay there? I am trying to get a timeframe because my mother is very sick and expected not to make it and I really want to go home to be with her before she passes, but am stuck in this endless process.

My case was at the PEB for over 3 months and in that time, they couldn't figure that out then. This process takes an unnecessarily long time.

The PDA is the Physical Disability Agency, it does a QA check and assigns the final rating once the PEB has determined whether or not you will be retained or retired.

Here is the official published guideline for the process

gsfowler thank you for posting this. It is unfortunate that a lot of PEBLOs do not take the time to make sure that all of the People's cases they are handling are briefed and informed thoroughly. From reading this forum the MEB/PEB is a rush process now to decide the factors for the rest of our life. I don't remember other Officers and Soldiers I worked with being rushed through the process like 3 years ago. I have a great PEBLO but the process itself is a rush because the days within the timeline have to be met.

Dr_DeJesus I am sorry to hear about your Mother. I pray that things go the right way for you so you can spend all of your time with her. I understand how you feel when you just want to go be with your mother when they are sick and time moves slowly at the location you don't want to be at. This entire process does move faster than it did 2-3 years ago. I knew people who were undergoing this process for 2 years or longer. I signed my formal counseling to start this process with my PEBLO 6 March 2015. I have finished up everything (VA QTC appts took 5 days to complete, appealed NARSUM, rcvd and signed DA form 3947, both sent to PEB. PEB sent back copy unfit memo to my PEBLO requesting VA provide ratings for unfit conditions, rcvd informal VA ratings and DOD ratings for unfit conditions listed on DA 199, accepted my ratings from DOD and VA Sept 7, 2015. I am just waiting on retirement orders. Hang in there hopefully this back log will get resolved soon.

She is actually in critical condition now. I want to take leave but my PEBLO told me my case is in QA and they should be receiving my findings any day now. I heard I can also accept my findings over the phone so, I intend to take leave at the end of this week regardless. I'm hoping to sign for my findings and pick my seperation date soon so I can choose 30 days and get my seperation orders before Thanksgiving. I suppose we will see. I was limdu for over a year, but started my process with my PEBLO in April. Just waiting for my findings now.

So, I finally signed my findings yesterday. 30DoD/80VA
It was mailed off yesterday. I chose not to contest. Now, I'm waiting for seperation orders. My command told me I do get the 20 days of house hunting/ job hunting plus I have 32 days on the books. I chose 30 days out so hopefully I get my orders soon. Last week, another sailor received hers 3 days after she signed her findings. Crossing my fingers.

Congrats! i hope i get something like that. i have 60 days of leave now so i will probably be going for 90 total. How long was it from submitting to IPEB to now?

I submitted my package to the PEB at the end of June. They receive it the first week of July. Found out I was unfit October 15. VA rated me October 20. Signed my rating November 4. Now just waiting for seperation orders. I picked 30 days.

Hello Dr_DeJesus, I pray you get to go on your leave as soon as possible so you can be home with your Mother. I know she and your family wants you there no matter what. I have faith everything is going to work out for you. The other Sailor recieved her stuff quickly. I'm Army and signed my 199 on 7 Sept to accept the PEB and VA ratings. I'm still waiting on retirement orders. I was told they were back logged;).
You be safe in your travels home, and I wish you the best of luck.
