Hello all, I have been using this resource a lot to help me since any of the assigned resources in the MEB/PEB use the default answer “I can’t see anything or I don’t have that authorization to view that”.

I completed all the MEB stuff and case was sent to PEB on August 11, 2023. I haven’t heard anything from anyone. I did check my VA app and it says my case was closed October 18, 2023. I called and requested the letter sent to my email. It says unfit with 90% proposed rating. I am expecting to hear from my PEBLO and I haven’t yet. Emailed her and called for another reason and it’s been a week and haven’t heard back. Does anyone know if I am anywhere near hearing results from the PEB. What does the VA letter have to do with my case? Am I anywhere near the end?

IDES rates ALL of your conditions so when you get out by being found unfit for duty you already have VA compensation set up. The 90% if the total isn't necessarily what your DOD% is. For any conditions that are found unfit the VA rating for the condition will also apply for the DOD%. If more than one unfitting condition then VA math applies too. So if you have 2 unfitting conditions and both are rated at 30% then it would not be 60% but instead 50% total DOD%.

Do you know what condition you were referred for to be put into IDES? Do you know what the VA rated that condition? If so you know the answer to both those questions you can have a pretty good idea of your your DOD% will be. If 30% or higher you will be medically retired and get tricare for the rest of your life. If lower than that you get separated with severance payment and no insurance but you will always be able with both outcomes to use VA healthcare.

Thanks for that information. The Wounded Warriors explained that same thing to me. The referred condition was combat PTSD, depression, anxiety and insomnia. I didn’t get an itemized letter with percentage for each condition yet. Just a letter from VA saying unfit and proposing 90%. I’m assuming I’ll get the retirement. It’s okay if not. I’m really concerned about what the timeline from head looks like. I haven’t heard anything from my PEBLO at all. Are you familiar with any potential timeline from here since the VA has sent me a letter? I’m confused why I’m hearing from them before I hear from the PEBLO.

PEBLO's are paper pushers. Some are good and some not so much. They typically don't reach out until there is something to do. The VA rates the conditions but the PEBLO needs the PEB's determination which is the iPEB. That's when you get a document to sign or appeal to FPEB and or VARR if VA rated a condition too low. You can only request a VARR for conditions that are found unfitting.

Okay, sweet thanks for the information, taking the time to reply and your insight.

Once your case says "closed" for the VA portion it goes back to the MEB, and spends some time there with QA. My case was closed with the VA on Sep 6 and I didn't get my findings until the 24th, so just earlier this week. It seems like the QA portion is taking about 8 weeks to complete out. Just to give you a bit of a timeframe, it might be a minute more before you get your official findings.

Wow, that’s some time then. So I won’t expect to hear anything from the PEBLO for another two months. Thanks for taking the time to reply and give me your timeline and thoughts. It really helps!
