I am currently in Lacklend to go through the MEB. In the last year I have had two different surgeries on my lower spine. Some how the rating is only 10% for that and 10 and 10 for each of my legs because of the nerves with temporary retirement. Can anyone tell me what the average is for the lower back? I know that within a year they will drop both % for my legs and then drop me from retirement all together which is said for a military member with 14 years in. If there is anyone out there with any info in the next 36 hours that may help please send it my way. Thanks to all.

Cetoway,

Welcome, and sorry to hear about your situation. Need some more information first. What kind of supporting evidence went in to your MEB? I don't know much about knees, but for the back, the single most important factors seem to be a range of motion test, and periods of incapacitation. Did you have MRI's, x-rays, EMG's, or other diagnostic testing done that would indicate a higher rating? What was your functional capability...I mean, how does your back and knee condition directly affect your ability to do your military job? Do you have letters from your chain of commad to that effect? If I understand you right, you are being put on TDRL? That would give you a 50% rating for the duration of that, up to 5 years, so its not a total mess yet. I'm sure one of our 'knee specialis' will be along to add what things can and do affect those ratings. Anyways, don't be shy, search the site, read the regs, and good luck!! :D:D
