New Member/Ebenefits Question

Congratulations on your TSgt selection dallasfan!!!! As you can probably guess my Graves and Thyroid Eye disease was not nearly as cut and dry as yours. 3 years after radioactive ablation and after 2 eye surgeries my thyroid or eyes are still not under control. It's such a long story so I will not bore you.
But good luck with your MEB. I stayed in the Prep for Decision phase for 6 months unfortunately. I've been almost 1 month in pending decision approval. I'm just ready for this whole process to be done. Hopefully yours will be much faster than mine.[/QUOTE

Holy crap man I am sorry to hear that about your Graves disease. Two eye surgeries that is insane man. They must have caught yours at a late stage when it was severe. I think they caught mine at a early enough stage to be able to control it better. Now don't get me wrong I went through hell the first four years after my ablation. Then as I was getting ready to PCS in 2010 they finally got me on the right dose on synthroid and it regulated it a lot better. As for my Ebenefits I stayed in the Gathering of evidence phase for 6 months. So I am hoping now they finally got it rolling now that they changed it to preparation for decision. Yea I can definitely sympathize with you on this whole process. I am just ready to get out and move on with my life. Have you ever heard of VocRehab? It is a great program man. I just enrolled in it during my TAPS class and we automatically qualify for it because of our MEB. I just took my testing the other day to determine what jobs I would be best at. It is a great program especially for somebody like me and you that's been in for a long time. If you want more info on that just let me know.

Yep! I've heard of it. It sounds like a great program but hopefully I will not need it. I am about 6 months away from my MBA! (another phase I'm eager to end in my life....SCHOOL LOL) If I have a hard time landing a job I may sign up for the sole purpose of job placement. The TAPS courses are very informative! A lot of good information I didn't know.

Unfortunately I am still stuck in the "Pending Decision Approval" phase. I was hoping that my separation date of May 9th would motivate AFPC to put a little pressure on VA. But according to my PEBLO, as of Monday AFPC has graciously extended me another 6 months. Yaaaay...NOT LOL! That doesn't mean it will take that long, hopefully. At least now AFPC will have a little breathing room when deciding my separation or retirement date.
I did notice in myPers there was another incident on my PEB thread. Hopefully that means VA has sent my notification back to AFPC already. One can dream!

wow I am surprised you are getting MEB for Graves disease. I have Graves disease as well with Bilateral Dye eye syndrome caused from Graves Disease. I was diagnosed in 2006 and had my thyroid radioactive ablated. Now I have to take a very high dose of synthroid every day for the rest of my life but it is regulated now. I have been in 11 1/2 years and I sew on TSgt April 1st. I got MEB for my back failed back surgery and Herniated discs in my L3-L4-L5S1 with 18 other claimed conditions including my thyroid. My status on Ebenefits just changed today to Preparation for decision so hopefully ill find out my results soon. My package has been there since 16 Nov 13. I am hoping to get Medical retirement as well. I wish you the best of luck Cook and hopefully they have your thyroid under control cuz when its not it is a complete nightmare.

Indeed, congratulations on your recent military promotion! :) Take care!

FINALLLY! I received a call from my PEBLO today to sign my 354. I was awarded 60% DOD/80% VA PERMANENT retirement. Yaaaay! That's exactly what I wanted. I thought I would be awarded 100% VA from my proposed ratings. I know VA has a funky matrix that ratings are plugged into for the overall rating so I'm not too annoyed by the 80%. Although, I will be appealing since I do have other conditions to add now. I'm am so excited I can hardly sit still to type this email!

Oooops! That form number is 356, not 354.

Indeed, congratulations on the acceptance of your IPEB findings inclusive of DoD PDRL and DoVA proposed ratings! :D

As such, please enjoy your forthcoming military disability retirement to include all post-military endeavors!
