Hello everyone, my name is Chris and I am a 20 year old Security Forces Airman currently serving in the USAF and it will be two years on 2 Feb 2012. I am currently in the IDES process for Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease (service connected). My local MEB has referred me to the Informal board, wont be to Randolph AFB until 29 Nov 2011, then it's 15 - 60 days from there. I have a wife and two daughters (2 years old and 3 weeks old today) and I enjoy my family life very much. Anything else, just let me know. See everyone around .

Welcome. This is definitely the place to research and find out your rights and how the medical process works.

Chris,

Welcome! We both have new babies in our family. My daughter was born 8 days ago. Congratulations on the addition to your family.

I hope all goes well for you with your MEB/PEB. What outcome would you like? Do you want to continue to serve or do you think your conditions prevent continued service?

hello, im a ssg in the army. im wondering if someone can tell me what happens after the va sends back a proposed rating?

Congrats Jason on the new addition, having a new one is the best possible thing one can experience in life.

Thanks and Congratulations to you as well. I would like Permanent Retirement or Discharge with Severance pay because with TDRL I could return to duty and reaggrevate the injury and I don't want that, I'm way too young to have this condition any way. I want to serve but with all the factors involved, I'm waiting for my date of separation. I was a career-specific MEB because I can't arm up and that's pretty important in my job.

IF all the DoD uses the same IDES system and the rating comes back AFTER the Informal PEB, you can accept or appeal. Go to your specific branch forum for more information.
