From a member: I was rated for PTSD at 70% by the Army and 100% total combined by VA. Was placed on TDRL in Nov of 2013 and now 10 months later the VA has determined that I am now total and permanently disabled. Question is at what point does DoD catch up and remove me from TDRL? It's been well over a week now and Army still shows TDRL. Will it change automatically or do I need to contact anyone? Thanks!

The Army has to schedule a PEB and make their own determination on permanency and may order an exam. They usually won't order an exam if you have a recent one done by the VA though. While they will have to acknowledge the VA's determination as evidence, they are allowed to come to their own conclusion.

It is not automatic in the way you seem to be thinking. After 5 years they are forced to make a decision, so in that sense it may be done automatically. http://wtc.army.mil/modules/soldier/s6-tdrl.html - provides some contact info.
