They calculate your DOS based off the amount of leave you have left, plus 20 days permissive TDY (as long as your commander approves it), and then I think you get 10 or 15 days to outprocess. So for me, I had 60 days of leave, 20 permissive TDY, and the rest are for outprocessing.

So you should be on terminal in a couple weeks then right?

If it takes too much longer or you keep getting blown off just get your shirt, SEL, or CC involved. Your timeline is actually moving quite fast, but in my case it took about 21 days to get my 618 back (for reference). If all the proper DOD, VA and Air Force guidance and timelines were followed I would probably be 2-3 months further along than I am now so I have little to no faith in this system anymore. Make them do their job and double/triple check their work, this stuff could affect the rest of your life not theirs, just my perspective.
While this (above) post means to be helpful, my experience has shown that there is little that any local (to the member) commander can do to hurry along with cases that are already forwarded to the PEB.

Now, there are commanders and there are commanders that have pull and are willing to dig in and apply pressure, so I am not saying that there can be no impact by commanders trying to speed things. (I had a client who was an 06 and a General Officer select who got a very fast outcome, a matter of weeks from MEB to Final PEB disposition....this Marine had people from the Commandant of the Marine Corps office checking in on the case. That is an outlier. The vast majority of times, there is next to nothing that outside questioning or pressure from the CoC can do to speed things along). My only point with this comment is that it is highly unlikely that anyone below a General Officer (and even then) can influence the speed of a case.
No, I didn't.
This is the rub. Sometimes cases are decided correctly and no attorney's efforts even matter. The MTF and MEB got it right. The PEB got it right. This is the ideal situation (and should ideally be the case for all members). I often say that a big problem I see is similar cases being treated differently. I see cases with very similar facts, and one member gets a great outcome and another gets a lousy outcome. This just confirms to me that the process is arbitrary and capricious and lacks controls to get the proper outcome in all cases.

That said, it's great that there was no need for additional help in Capybara's case. (Just a side note, I went on vacation about 5 years ago to the north central part of Colombia and at our hotel, there were a ton of capybara's running around...looked in size to be about 8-12 pounds and they were everywhere).

Alas, I only get to ogle capybaras digitally. Are they as cute in person as they are in pictures? And, I totally agree about the capriciousness of this process. Thanks for all the advice you provide on this site. Honestly, this site has often been way more informative than my PEBLO and my MSC combined.

Yes, once I'm done outprocessing. It still doesn't feel real after the long ordeal that was this whole MEB/PEB process.
I know what ya mean. I just got notified by mypers today that the PEB has my case and my PEBLO says ill have results by APR 13th. Im ready to be done.

Yeah, I guess. Like big Guinea Pigs or hamsters. At the hotel where I was (northern part of Colombia), they were around all the time. Just part of the scenery. Some of the locals said that some folks eat them. Not sure if I would be down for that, but they were definitely common and "part of the scenery."

Glad the site has been helpful. Disappointed that the official sources have been less helpful, but that is part of the reason I started this site.

How did you get AFPC to change their mind from return to duty to Full MEB?
