PCM Said Fit... Detailer said Med Board

I'm in the Navy with nearly 13 years.
In 2011 I was diagnosed with a rare endocrine tumor called a pheochromocytoma. It was removed. Further scans determined I had some additional spots in my lungs. I had minor lung surgery in 2013. The doctor did not remove one of the spots because it was "too difficult" to get to. Earlier this year that spot had grown and I was referred out to a civilian surgeon. He stated that removing the last spot was simple. I had another surgery and came home. Since I was on a ship for this last surgery I went on LIMDU. I came off LIMDU early (I recovered quickly). My PCM said I was fit for full duty but recommended 1 shore duty assignment before going back to sea just because I should get scans every 12 months. I worked with the detailer and selected new orders. Somewhere along the way someone in Millington decided that I couldn't take those orders and recommended me for Med board. My question is that if all my doctors (PCM, surgeon and specialist) all say that I am fit for full duty then how can I be recommended for a Med Board? I have physical restrictions. I am not on any meds. I have no special doctors I regularly see. My PCM can order the required scans I need once a year. Strange enough, I am in better shape than I've almost ever been because I've had plenty of time to spend at the gym. Any advice?

A medical board begins with your PCM, not your detailer.

I have ab appointment with my PCM Wednesday. The detailing office wont write my orders that I've been selected for and are recommending me to Med Board based on the new deploy or get out guidelines.

Have you checked the Navy retention policy in the Resource part of this website. The Navy leans heavily toward retention.

I am reading there now.
I've also tried reaching out to the detailer to find out why they are trying to med board me when my PCM cleared me in August.

I have never hear of a detailer pushing a MEB. The process starts in the doc shop.

Thats exactly what I don't get. I came off LIMDU in August. The only thing my PCM said was within 5p miles of an MTF and recommend shore duty. There is nothing preventing me from deploying or going to ship.

I got selected for shore duty orders. The detailer called back and said I was being sent to Med Board. My PCM isnt even aware yet until I see her on Wednesday. I don't even understand how this is possible.

The detailer doesn't have the authority to send you to a Med board.

I think you may be confused with terminology.

The detailer sent a message to my command saying that they would not release my orders without a medboard based on the new deploy ability assessment guidelines.

I dont know if it was the actual detailer. I am coming off of LIMDU and was told that the medical desk had to review before my orders could be cut.

I would say don’t stress too much until you talk to your PCM. Maybe the detailer needs clarification on the restrictions your PCM gave you (within 50 miles of a MTF and shore duty) thinking your not deployable or your PCM wrote more restrictions than you were told. Your PCM has the decision to MEB you or not so don’t stress until you get information from them.

And IG complaint might be in order.

I just reviewed the copy of the message. It says:

"Deployability Assessment officer has reviwed the mbr's health information and mbr is directed to be referred to a physical evaluation board (PEB) for disability evaluation per ref b for ICD-10 Code C74.12"

I would assume that they are looking at you can’t deploy on a ship and they want you with in 50 miles of a MTF (Not a deployed location). Like I mentioned before though discuss this with your PCM as you may be undeployable or it’s the way it was written that makes you seem undeployable.
