Hello all,
I was wondering if this is a good thing or a general email. Do they send this through this process just to deny you?
I've been waiting 2.6 years now.

"Your case recently met the PDBR Board. Your case is currently pending review and signature by the Director.
Once this occurs, he recommendation of the PDBR was forwarded to the Secretary of the Army's Designated Decision Authority (DDA) for their final decision in your case.
Unfortunately, we have no control, or method to track the status of your case further once the Army receives it. We have recently been informed the Army is backlogged in processing cases but they are processing them as quickly as possible. Once a decision has been made in your case, you will be promptly notified by the Army.
We ask for your continued patience as the Army DDA works to finalize your case. If you do not receive a decision in the next 120-days please send us an email and we will try and check on the status of your case.
Respectfully,"

Welcome to the forum. This is a standard email response from the PDBR when a case is almost completed, and is an update that carries no inference to outcome. The normal process for the PDBR (run by the Air Force), is for them to make a recommendation, and forward to the Secretary of your branch, i.e the Army. Once the Army has it, the Secretary either agrees with or overrules (rarely) the recommendation of the PDBR. Once the Secretary finalizes the decision, it is mailed to you. When it has finished with the PDBR, and sent to the army, you can contact a PDBR point of contact in the Army. His name is Mr. Al. I will post his contact below. However, I would give it some more time before contacting him since it hasn't been sent to the Army yet. Best of luck!

John

So I got good news yesterday, I called Al from Army HRC 1-877-577-3065 and he had my file on his desk. He needed a copy of my original orders, and the member-4 copy of my DD-214... because he was processing my 30% retirement... I am trying to hold the celebrations until I have it in writing, but I am encouraged. Funny thing is he stated that they have 120 days to respond, and that they were getting it done early... I assume he is correct, but I thought it was 45 days to decide, plus 10 days to notify...

Thank you so much sir for your reply; I got a little too excited I guess - its been almost 3 years...
So, I should reach out to Mr. Al in 45-Days you think?

No worries at all. I say email him after you know it has left the PDBR or 30ish days after you received that email, and go from there. I understand about getting excited I submitted my first packet in 2016, found out in 2017 they never got it. So I sent it again in may of 2017. Hang in there, you're getting closer!

I am not overly familiar with the ABCMR process. The PDBR is a completely separate board, run by the Air Force for all eligible service members. That all being said, I believe the third party medical opinion is just that, and not the PDBR. However, I could be wrong. I recall reading on here some where, and I will look for it, a thread that discussed how contractors are utilized to prepare, and conduct reviews for the various boards. Best of luck!
