My MSC told me mine over the phone since I already had my proposed VA ratings. Idk of any other way. Anyone get their DA 199 yet? I'm on day 25 now and waiting still.Where or is there a way to find your dod rating? I started in dec 2020 and signed narsum March 1. Was found unfit, but no ratings as of yet.
So all the ratings are done by the VA. The ratings listed for purposes of retirement or severance are the ones that the DOD consider unfitting meaning that they cause you to not be able to do your job. That is why when you do get your 199 it will list the DOD % and the VA% and typically the VA % is higher since it includes everything. The PEB must use the VA ratings so if you have a bad back that caused you to not be able to do your job and it was rated by the VA for 50% then the DOD % would be 50%. Say you had sleep apnea and it was rated 50%. That would add to the VA rating but not the DOD rating since sleep apnea would not disqualify you to do your job. Does that make sense?Does anyone know what ratings the PEB use for the 199? The VA finished my proposed rating on 06-Apr but said they are still working on adjudicating my claim including having just received additional medical documentation as of today. So it seems like the proposed rating isn’t even considered by the PEB.
The VA has been very inconsistent. They told me in March it was done, then retracted that statement and said it was finished on April 6th and sent to my PEBLO. Then today say only the proposed rating was finished but that they are still working my final rating evaluation and can’t discuss anything even though they’ve already sent me a proposed rating.
Ive also been told they have to allow 60-days for adjudication so that I can dispute any issues in my proposed rating which I guess isn’t an appeal since an appeal can only happen with final ratings but IDES legal says I can appeal once I get my 199. It’s a mess. I’m not sure what purpose these proposed ratings even serve or how they are used by the PEB. My PEBLO and IDES legal refuse to explain to me how this process works. It sucks.
I’ve sort of figured that one out but I guess my main confusion here is how the VA finished a proposed rating if they are still actively working on my claim? Does the PEB use only the proposed ratings for the DoD conditions? Or does the VA only adjudicate the unfit conditions at first and then finalize the rest after you are separated? When I spoke to the VA today, they stated with a fairly high degree of confidence that my final rating may vary significantly from my proposed rating leading me to wonder what’s the point of the proposed rating? So all the ratings are done by the VA. No worries. There are a lot of checks and balances so they might just be waiting on one person. There are 3 people that decide the informal PEB. If one person isn't done that is usually the holdup. Other issues is that there may be in issue or holdup that needs to be fixed before its finalized. Think about orders and how sometimes they need to be amended for things you or I don't care about like the pay code for which pot of money is paying for things. So I wouldn't over analyze anything. I know its hard to be patient but there isn't much to do until you get your 199 presented to you by the PEBLO. From there you have some choices to make.Ah that makes sense. So if the ratings don’t change, considering that the VA rater just received my behavioral health records today and I was told my claim is still being evaluated AFTER my case was closed and my proposed rating was mailed out then could that mean the PEB added an unfit condition that may not have been on my NARSUM? I find that development to be very odd since it’s currently not an unfit condition and since the proposed rating doesn’t really vary from the final rating - I’m curious what exactly they are doing with my rating at this point lol
Sorry if I’m asking too much here ha
Been in it since Aug 2020, I know what you meanI’m at day 33 and no DA 199, the system is very slow, been in this process since November
I think I'm in the same-ish situation. I received my proposed ratings from the VA back in December (showed up on eBenefits). I was fine with those ratings and was hoping everything would just move along but here we are four months later and I'm still waiting for final ratings. My PEBLO told me the PEB requested revised ratings from the VA towards the end of January but could not tell me what the revision request was for. I've called the VA and they tell me they don't see a request for revised ratings. I'm 370 days into this process and currently 85 days in the PEB Findings step. Hopefully this will wrap up soon but it is definitely frustrating not really knowing what is going on.I feel ya, I’ve hit a bit of a wall lately so I’m trying to hang in there. Especially with my behavioral health stuff this has been rough as far as the anxiety from it goes. Fingers crossed I can get some answers soon and just get this over with and not have to stress about it anymore.
Even thought the system/them tell you that a letter is on it's way if you are still active like me it goes to your PEBLO. Mine was mailed out on 5 April and I just gave the VA a call and they told me to reach out to my PEBLO. Super frustrating process.I called the VA and they told me that they are mailing me a letter and it would take 10 days to get it and I am going on 22 days
