"Pending Decision Approval" for almost a month now...

Curious if anyone out there has recommendations on who to call to look into my status. My status was updated to "Pending Decision Approval" on 7 May and has been sitting there ever since.

I don't want to unnecessarily be calling people and tying up the process, but this seems odd. Is there any chance that the VA may need some additional documentation or misplaced my case? Any recommendations on the best person to call?

- My PEBLO just retired (took the early retirement offered by the AF) and I haven't met or spoken to his replacement.

- From reading other posts it seems the answer from calling the VA is "contact your PEBLO" or "we don't know" or something to that effect.

Trying to be patient…

All you can do is be patient, it's not odd at all!

If something additional is needed for your claim, eater who is handling your claim will inform your PEBLO and/or MSC

I wrote that it's odd because I have read several other posts where people stated that they saw eBenefits change to "Preparation for Decision" (the step before "Pending Decision Approval") and got their ratings w/in a week. Maybe their timelines were an anomaly…

I got a letter from the VA about a month ago stating that they need my DD-214 or DD-215 to complete my application for enrollment in the VA health care system, but when I called the 1-877 number listed on the letter, a representative told me that this was unrelated to my disability claim. This seems to be accurate, since I haven't separated yet, but now I'm wondering if I was misinformed.

VA healthcare is separate from VA Compensation & Pension. Once you get your DD214, you will be enrolled into the VA Healthcare system.

As fas as your benefits rating goes, the status may or may not change quite frequently in eBenefits, or it may not. I think you should attempt to contact your new PEBLO or the supervisor to get the status from them.

From what I understand, it means that your proposed ratings are done at the VA and they sent them back through your branch and to your PEBLO so you can be informed, elect to accept or appeal those ratings. I would definitely call your PEBLO and ask them to look.

This was the case (mostly). I didn't realize that the VA findings had already gone back to the IPEB. I asked my new PEBLO and he did not give me any other explanation other than "this process may take XXX days so we're still good. I will email you when your Form 356 comes in." Very helpful. However, I contacted the Office of Airmen's Counsel, and they were able to tell me the status of my case. The VA must have processed it extremely quickly, because I just got my ratings today. 30% DOD, 40% VA! It may not sound like much compared to others here, but that was the best case scenario for me. I can also say I went through this process with a clear conscience - not exaggerating my claims and not leaving anything out.

Civilian life, here I come…. Weird.
