Reactive airway disease
ICD code 518.89
no inhaler
no diagnosed asthma
chest xray normal

Pre broncho dialator
FEV-1 71% predicted
FVC 73% predicted
FEV-1/FVC 78.9%

Post bronchodialotor
FEV-1 53% predicted
FVC 55% predicted
FEV-1/FVC 78.2%

Below are the ratings from Chapter 38 for asthma and COPD - dependent on other factors these are two general categories that may apply to you. These may not be your exact diagnosis, but they reflect the rating cutoffs. For the pre bronchodilator, you fall into the 10% range based on FEV-1. Post Bronchodilator is in 60% range.

But here's the catch, the rater gets to choose which one best reflects your functioning based upon other information in the medical records. It can be argued that the pre bronchodilator best represents your general functioning since you are on no medication or inhalers, and therefore is how you are most of the time.

The fact that you get worse on a bronchdilator is best discussed with your physician and whether this is significant or not.

But this is how it falls in terms of FEV-1 and FEV-1

Best of luck...Bob

lostone1, is it possible you have the pre-Broncho dilator and post-Broncho dilator number inversed? Typically one expects FEV-1.... to go higher (better) with treatment. The way you have this presented you got worse with treatment not better. Its possible, but highly irregular.

Thats how it is typed into the document. Perhaps they got it backwards?
