PHA during MEB????

Has anyone going through an Army MEB ever had to do a PHA during this process?? This seems really strange that this would be required by the unit, active or guard, during the MEB process even if it is due?

It's just annual command requirement that requires a check mark beside your name on a list.
Think of it this way..... They don't know if your headed out or refrading back.....;)
 
I'm red on my PHA, but until somebody mentions something, I'm not too worried about it. I did the online part just-in-case.....
 
I completed a PHA/Annual Flt Physical and that is what they used to push up with my MEB. Fliers (at least AF) lose flight pay if you let your PHA expire (over 365 days).

I lost my flight pay a year ago this month. Once I was placed into the MMRB and MEB system I lost that huge incentive pay I had been receiving for over a decade. I was very sad to see that go.

Prepare to have to do everything before they transition you out. I was in the WTU and had weekly Dr appointments and figured I was good to go. Nope! Not only did they make me PHA, but I also had to do a reverse SRC before they would sign my clearing papers. It was a pain in the ass, but had to do it to get out. I tried pulling the Warrant card, but was smacked down. The funny thing about the SRC was I was a MEDEVAC 6 months earlier. I asked in the first month if I needed to reverse SRC and the WTU told me no. They were wrong. Division medical will catch it during clearing and refuse to sign.

I suggest you get it done now. It will be one less stressor when you get your clearing papers. BTW, what unit are you with? I was with 2/25 from 06-07.

Joe, I was with 2/25 from 2000-2001 then 2003-2006(FEB) and again 2009 to present. I will take your advice and get it done this week. Better safe than sorry I suppose.
 
Before my (progressively easier) life as an Army JAG (not to mention now, as a civilian), I had the honor of commanding units both in the National Guard and on Active Duty. One thing I can tell you is that the tyranny of the quarterly or weekly battalion briefings, as driven by PowerPoint slides, is relentless. Having a block, whether it is PHA/PDHRA, anthrax vaccines, PT scores, weapons qual or whatever, show yellow or red, is the bane of any commanders existence. Not sure this is how it should be, but anything that is not a green makes your commander look like a turd in front of their boss. I see no problem with filling out a PHA, so why not do it?
 
Oh, I filled it out almost two months ago, and I see my PCM every other week and it has never been brought up and I honestly forget to mention it. I understand exactly what you mean though Jason. I have had to fill in numerous times at command and staff meetings and get drilled over issues that I have no part in tracking, yet because I was the "fill-in" and senior warrant, well you can say that the power point slides covering my unit took up almost half the meeting. Not fun. Like I previously said, I plan to just get it out of the way this week so I am good to go!

Ah I got there in May 06. You did the Afghan deployment with them then. I worked with Newman, Rice, Mygatt, Brodin, Billings and the whole crew. Good bunch of guys. I had a blast on the 15 monther to Iraq in 06.
 
I've been going through the MEB for the last year, finally its over and I am being retired on the 28th of this Month. My box wasn't checked they made me go get a PHA even though I was on my way out. Tried to make me get more vaccines as well but considering its because of a vaccine that I am getting out I said no. They said well it could delay your ability to retire if you don't have one. And I said fine you can keep paying me as long as you want, I'm NOT getting a vaccine. (I have a pacemaker and take over 14 different prescriptions after an adverse reaction to the H1N1 vaccine)
 
Yep. I left only days after Lythgoe took command. I was clearing during the change of command.

That's that experince talking.......... and extremely funny if it's not your commander. Oh the stuff of O' Club chatter... LOL :D
 
So, on the PHA documetation filled out prior to the PHA I gather that you should list everything on the DA 3947 regardless if it has been determined that it meets retention standards or not?? I'm laughing because I envision my unit or MTF learning of new diagnosis (due to the VA appts findings and not found by the Army) from the PHA and this somehow triggering steps towards med appts/meb/etc even though I am currently in the MEB process. Nothing surprises me since entering into this MEB ordeal.
