Thanks for the download. I want to make sure I put the proper info into the 3288. In the TO block I need to put the address I am mailing the DD-294 to, right? Same with the box below that, right? Then I put my name in the veterans request block. For the information requested do I just need to put VA records? These may seem like simple questions, but we both know how long bad paperwork can hold things up in the government. Thanks
 
I don't remember anything about the form 3288. I sent mine in in Jan. Would they have called me if they needed it? Maybe I did sent it but don't remember.
 
I would think they would send you a letter. You can call to check. Did you send your VA C-file with your application?

Did you get the initial letter they sent out stating they received your application? I will be sending my application out tomorrow. Wish me luck.

No, the C-file is VA-speak for the "Claims file," i.e., all the information in your records. The decision letter is part of the file, though.
 
Does anyone have there Phone #? Although I have not heard from them in regards to the 3288, I better call them and make sure I sent it. Thanks

If I get reviewed and receive 30% or above retirement, what happens with the severance pay I received? Also, I am currently getting 60% from the VA. Do the VA payments offset the retirement in some way? I had over 14 years in when I got out.

I called them today, they said the form 3288 wasn’t that important in the beginning (Except for Airforce personnel) but it will be required since they are devising new directions for the board. I’m sending mine in tomorrow.
 
Hello to all fellow Veterans!

I am also one of the many veterans that was low balled during the whole PEB situation. Back in Operation Desert Shield when it first kicked off I was diagnosed with pneumonia and was bed riddin for a few weeks. I am not sure if anyone was aware of all the cases of soldiers dying from pneumonia when the war first kicked off. They sent a research team over there, but I am not sure how the investigation went. All I know was anyone that was diagnosed with pneumonia was medically evacuated out of the Middle East asap because of the unexplained incidents. I was a SSG(E-6) in the US. Army just a few months shy of 9 years. Yes I did want to stay in, and let me tell you the PEB was a long process. The first board I went to they put me on a 90 day evaluation because I wanted to stay in. I came back to the board the second time they said I was fit for the Army and said I could stay in, but a week later they said I was not fit so they med boarded me again... I appealed all the way to Texas, but all they did was increase my percentage from 10% to 20% and talk about good times working under the 101st at Fort Campbell which I wasn't intrested in at that particular time. What a joke...

I was med boarded for Kartagener's Syndrome (Respiratory) and Chronic Sinusitis. The Army rated me at 20%, but the VA's rating was 30% a few months after I was medically chaptered out of the service. I have a few other claims ie. plate in my left ankle, arthritis in wrist, high blood pressure... My total rating is 55%.

The question I have and if I asking the same question twice my apologies, but when they ask for documentation they mean documentation you have from that time period you were going through the PEB process correct? I was curious if applicants are sending in new medical information with there packets. Me personally I don't think that is a requirement, but I wanted to be sure before I submit my application.

I am very happy to see Veterans standing together and speaking out. I work for the VA now as a HR Specialist and let me tell you government life is far grander then the military side. I admit I am bitter against the Army now because they look at everyone as a number, but I have nothing but love for all of my friends and non-friends serving our country. I just hope all the veterans that are already out of the service will not be pushed to the side to a active duty vet if he/she is going through the same process.

Called the board today. They stated the original policy has been updated on their website. AFPC - Air Force Personnel Center search word PDBR. Due to the policy update, mainly stemming from the recommendation posed in April, there has been a delay. Again, I have docket number 5 and applied the second day the board was open back in January. My status is that my whole package is at the board just waiting for disposition. I asked if a board date had been set and they did not have an answer as of yet...they were hoping soon. So to all wondering it has been confirmed that no boards have occurred as of yet...will keep everyone aprised of the situation...again if you want to contact them directly by phone here is the number (210) 565-3256. Make sure you have your docket number handy.

I went to the website, did the search, and it said, "You do not have permission to access this document."
 
Question:

For the individuals that have submitted their applications to the PDBR what documentation did you submit other than the two forms you have to fill out? Was anyone asked to send current medical information for their condition? I have read on here some of the applicants were asked to provide medical documentation at the time they were going through the med board process.

I have my application pretty much completed, but I am going to make a copy of my entire military medical record and send it with my file just so I don't have to worry about the specialist asking for documents that have misteriously disappeared. Has anyone been notified their medical file has been lost during their PDBR?

well i guess i should start with i am a 11b1p i have been in for 6 years i have been hit with 1 ied no loc but daysed and knocked out 6 times from jumping my dictation was sent to dc but i am just worerd about what the army might give me i was diagnosed with post concussion syndrome ,sever migranse and daily tension headacks the thing is i wont at least 30% or tdrl becasue i planed on staying in because of the insorance my son is altsic does anyone have any knowlage oh this if so please help me out

ps sorry for my spelling but i am a grunt lol

I have a child with Autism. My husband was in the army for almost 8 years and medically boarded out. The army gave him 0 %, and the VA has him at 100%, we are still working on the Permanent and total rating. My husband is covered under the VA, but the family is not covered under military health care.

What I ended up doing to get my children coverage is:

First I applied for Social Security for my daughter SSI. I was surprised that it didn't take too long for them to approve her. I did this while my husband was still active duty. If your child can get SSI, then they will cover for medicaid. Medicaid (based upon what state you live in) will pay for almost everything for a child with autism- Ocupational therapy, physical therapy, braces for legs if needed ect. Eventually my daughter no longer qualified for SSI due to our income.

so the second thing I did was I applied for a waiver program throught the state that I live in. Most states have waiver programs that would allow an ill, or disabled child to cover for medicaid even if you do not qualify normaly (lower income). Most states have a waiting list for this program, so apply ASAP!

So I would try visit the social security office and apply first, and then I would go to the local department of human services in your area and apply with them too. If you get the insurance with the military then medicaid will pick up whatever is left over anyway, so it can't hurt. I wish you the best of luck and thank you for protecting my freedom!

I helped my husband apply. I copied all of his medical records that I had (while in military, and after). I sent a copy of his discharge, a copy of the rating the VA gave him, and a copy of the letter we received when he was awarded social security disability. It was a huge stack of papers. I had to put it all in a box. I also put in the application and some statement as to why we belive he should have been rated higher. We also pulled a bunch of junk off of the interenet about how the VASRD reads, and how when he was discharded they did not rate his condition based upon how their rules state. I made a copy of the application and the statements too. Just in case! I sent it cerified mail, with the little return signiture thing on it. I am not taking any chances. I figured the more they had, the more likley I proved the case??

Black sheep you are correct. Called the board to see what the problem is. I presume that it is currently a CAC access only document and I made them aware. I will check back in a couple of days and everyone know their progress...that is in terms of the PDBR info on the AirForce Personnel Website.
