Looking for some help and guidance here as I don't know what to do in my current situation and am not in a good spot, and I'm freaking out because I don't know what I am supposed to do now.

I am active duty, E6, joined 25SEP2006. Last year I was med boarded. I did not want to be, but that is a moot point now. It was completed in June 2025 and I was found unfit and to be placed PDRL (70% DOD, 100% P&T for VA). At this time, I submitted a permanent limited duty (PLD) request to pers-454, requesting 30SEP2026 so that I could reach my 20 year mark. On the PLD request I chose the option "to reach longevity retirement". I mean it was literally one of the pre-determined options on the official form. The whole reason behind that was so I could reach regular retirement and qualify for CRDP. In my current situation, this is a necessity.

Aug 2025 my PLD was approved by PERS, to the requested date of 30Sep2026. There was even language in the approval message stating that it's purpose was so that I could reach 20 years. The message also directed that I do NOT submit a fleet reserve request, so I didn't. The message also directed, that due to the PLD being greater than 12 months, I was to undergo another med board to start no later than 6 months prior to the end of the PLD.

Fast forward to now. 2nd med board initiated as directed and completed. Everything went as expected, didn't even have to re-do any exams. Same result. Unfit, PDRL, 70%, 100% P&T.

On July 2nd, PEBLO submitted my EOO to the board. Before submitting, the PEBLO called her contact at pers-454 to ensure that the approved PLD date would still be honored. The answer was yes. So we submitted the EOO. Was told it would take 2-4 weeks to hear anything back (it was roughly 3 weeks after the med board in 2025, so no surprise).

This part is what has caught me completely off guard and looking like I'm screwed. Came back to work after the holiday today, 07JUL to find that my PDRL message had already been released on July 6th. It states that I am to be "RAD" on 15AUG, and placed PDRL 16AUG.

This is where I am at a loss, completely confused, and don't know why it is happening like this or what I can do. How is it that I have an approved PLD, which in turn directed me to go through this 2nd med board, and then this 2nd med board ignores that approval, and after letting me go for 11 more months, decide to separate me 1 month short of 20 years? Things are already very bad. This cannot happen. What can I do to stop this? Please help. Any pointers, recommendations, or direction will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Reach out to your congressman. He or she can help you initiate a congressional inquiry if you can't get it fixed right away. Have you talked to your commander? HRC? Have you talked to JAG? HRC can amend it if they screwed up the date. You just need to make this your entire life to get fixed to ensure the proper retirement date. Maybe reach out to a private attorney for pointers too. Check out this website and see if Mr. Gately can give you any pointers on who to talk to. Link is here: John B. Gately: Disabled Veteran Attorney- Fighting for You in MEB, PEB & VA Cases

Just make sure to stay on this and get it fixed before you get out. This is much easier to fix now than if you get to August and are booted out when it should be at the end of September.

Currently working with PEBLO, my ps1 and senior chief, command's limdu coordinator, all trying to get ahold of someone at multiple different PERS branches. Triad is aware as well. So far no response from anyone in 24 hrs now, so that's real good. What is HRC?

Will be escalating this even more if we don't hear something back today. Ridiculous. It's literally black and white that any PDRL message sent is supposed to pass through 454 first and ensure it matches any current PLD date. So sick and tired of no one doing their job correctly.

HRC is Army. Probably different name for each branch. If PERS then you are probably Navy or Fleet Reserves. I would keep escalting to get it fixed before you get out. If it doesn't you end up with a ABMCR to fix it and it takes years to get through that process.

ah. yes, i am active duty navy currently. So far, there has been no resolution yet. We have called and emailed pers-454 contacts, pers-95, pers-954, even "informed" the functional pers-95 disability retirement inbox (which is what the pdrl message states to do when an RAD adjustment is needed), and so far not a response from a single person. every day last week myself, ps1, PEBLO, senior chief, and commands limdu coordinator called and emailed them. not a single f****** response. this is complete bullshit. I don't even know what I can do.. the CMC are CO are also aware, have been briefed about it multiple times. don't actually know if they have done anything yet. CO is obviously always busy, the CMC is about as approachable and helpful as a rabid badger so I don't know what good thats going to be. he was super annoyed we even talked to him about it.

Okay since time is not on your side I would contact your local congressperson and ask them if they can help using a congressional inquiry. That can get the attention of the higher ups to focus on your issue. Let them know in simple layman's terms the issue and how that mistake will affect you if not corrected. Each congressperson has people dedicated to each section of the government. So he or she would have someone on staff that is in charge of handling issues with the military for example.
