Possible Unsuitable for sea duty screening

Good Morning,

I just recently came off LIMDU and was found "fit for full". I just got done completing my back to sea duty screening. The DOC said that she needs to send off to the ship for a Yes or No from gaining command SMO. I'm just concerned because she had mentioned if found unsuitable then I would get a memo and then it would be up to PERS. So if this is the case, then why was I found fit for full by my LIMDU coordinator.

Quick backstory: I was LIMDU for mental health and I am cleared, but it was my LOW Testosterone levels that raised a flag on her end along with my mental health concerns. I am a month a way from hitting my 19 years mark and now just extremely worried of what is to come???

I know this is broad question but how likely is it that I would be found Unsuitable? and then if so what is next?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Are you officer or enlisted? For enlisted, PERS handles your case if you’re put on LIMDU for the third time in your career. The first and second time are decided by the convening authority for your medical treatment facility. If you are trying to avoid a medical board before hitting your 20, I would avoid additional LIMDU periods. If you do end up being referred to an MEB, it takes a long time to fully go through the various phases and there are chances to appeal and slow down the process every step of the way if you wish. Just depends on what your goals are. I’m not sure if the ship will find you unsuitable or not, but I would imagine they will accept you if your mental health has been cleared.

I am enlisted and I am trying to avoid another LIMDU at all cost! I was cleared in December and just received orders. I hit 19 years in March of this year . The DOC today was looking at my record and saw some other flags that she just wasn’t going to signs. So yeah not at the mercy of the gaining commands SMO.

Gotcha. Just do your best to ride it out. If you do end up being referred to the medical board process in the future, you will likely be fine in hitting your 20. Like I said, there are ways to make it move slower and it already moves slow all on its own. If you somehow go through the board and are found unfit before you hit 20, there is also a way to just ride out your last bit of time in a desk job. I forgot what it’s called but that’s an option if you need it. I’m sure other people on this forum have more knowledge to share about that.

Yeah no worries, glad to help. This whole process is hurry up and wait unfortunately. Just find a way to make the time pass and ride out your last bit of time
