I just signed my DA Form 199 yesterday at Fort Bragg. I was told by my PEBLO and Transition that it will likely take 4 WEEKS to be cut transition orders.

Is anybody else hearing this too?
What is the average timeframe? This seems a little suspect.

Not suspect. I used to work in Transitions here at FT Carson and we used to tell people it could take 1 week up to a month for someone to get orders. Sometimes it could be shorter or longer, depending on the case type, be patient.

What was the average timeline that you saw?

it has been 44 days for me, and i still dont have orders. Best of luck to you

Mine took the full 4 weeks. I think that is pretty standard. The election letters have to go back to the PEB and then get processed. This take a bit of time to generate the official orders. Good luck to you!

Holy crap! What is the reasoning for it taking so long?

I signed September 18th and was told by the PDA people that they received my packet on Oct 1. Seems to be some disconect there.

PDA? So you got your orders in 12 days? What installation are you at?

Schoeniv,
Physical Disability Agency in Washington DC. They look at the packet from the PEB and the 199 and say when orders can be cut I guess. I have not received orders yet, that is why I called and then I found out that my packet took almost two weeks to be received there because of an error on my PEBLO's end. So I have at least two weeks added because of a missing signature I was told. Anyways, they have a small office and review all PEB's so they are backlogged. I am going through Ft. Riley but as an infantry guy on recruiting orders I am a remote soldier so everything has taken forever.

That's ridiculous. I'm sorry to hear that.

Un-freaking-believable. This process just goes to show how inept the Government is at doing things. Way too much red tape and bureauocracy.

Schoeniv, your case is one of the fastest I have ever seen and I been on here for a while. Most of the time it takes about a month, but you do have to take into consideration that the holidays are approaching. What was your unfitting condition. The rest of us can only wish that we were where you are. Atleast you and your family know your situation and you can start planning. Most of us Active on here, have been on multiple Deployments and we are ready to get out. My wife and small children live out of state and I have been away from them for over 7 years of my active service. I hope that I atleast get found unfit soon. Just be patient bud and try not to lose your mind, I know that this process just breaks us down to the bone. God Bless and happy that you got your % and will be home soon with your family, probably by christmas. Active Bud!

I'm at Fort Hood. I signed my DA 199 03OCT12. My PEBLO told me I should hear from Transition in approx. 3 weeks. I waited 4 weeks (trying to be patient and not pester them) and called Transition to see if my name came up on the TRANSPROC List. I got suspicious because I was suppose to hear from my VA Coordinator the day I signed my DA 199 and didn't. So after 4 weeks I call my PEBLO for an update to find that she is on leave (AGAIN!!!) for 10 days. I call the MEB desk to find out the IDES System had been down for 4 WEEKS!!! They were working on getting 400+ packets sent off when the system finally came back on. That was on 29OCT12! The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I lost 4 weeks then too! So with 8 weeks of system failures I have reached the end of my patience! ARGH! It's very disheartening to think I could be out of the Army by now and making a better life for myself, rather than dwelling in my unit being treated like an outcast and not worthy of common courtesy. I hope I hear some good news soon

My case started in April and the VA case is Pending Decision Approval, but my MEB was sent to JAX back in June and they lost my surgery paper work three times, then it sat on someones desk for months, then the dang urologist in JAX was taking so long, that I agreed to remove my Testicular Surgery from my PEB, to cut it down to 2 conditions Crohns' and PTSD which those alone will find me unfit. I am so aggravated with this Supposedly Great IDES system. I submitted 23 items to VA to rate and they are moving alot faster than my dang 2 peb conditions, WTF. I feel for all of us on here, and I hope that for the next group behind us the system gets better. Everytime there is a storm or anything in this country the Government uses it as an excuse to slow things down even worse.

I appologize if I offended you in any way. I know I shouldn't be complaining, it's not fair to those who waited over a year for this. We're all ready to get out of here.

One more thing to add to this is that my high-speed (10+ years) PEBLO told me that the PDA does do "random" audits of packets for quality assurance, too. She didn't know what would trigger one, or anything else - that's just what my PEBLO told me.

She told me that generally, it takes PDA to process and then forward packets for Transpoc 2-4 weeks - usually. Unless your packet is the one that gets picked out of the pile for a "random" audit, that is.

My packet took three weeks total at PDA, but I wasn't told about having Transpoc orders until I had less than 60 days left for discharge. Apparently, the day PDA signs off on your packet is the day when your final 90 days begins. And some of those 90 days can get sucked up in getting orders to be cut for discharge and your being notified.

So add into the mix, computer program glitches, admin errors, people on leave, holiday seasons, random audits, and there you go.

Just know most of you who are at this stage (PDA) are closer to the end than most others in this FUBAR IDES process.
