Finally received my proposed ratings: 30%DOD and 90% VA, Now the big question is would it be even worth it to fly to Seattle and try to fight the DOD %?

30% DOD gets you medical retirement. Do the calculations based upon pay and see if you can achieve more from requesting a formal PEB.

Congratulations on the receipt of your IPEB findings inclusive of DoD 30% and DoVA 90% proposed ratings! Did you receive PDRL or TDRL; just curious? :)

In my opinion, in addition to what gsfowler stated, requesting a formal PEB hearing is dependent upon how much patience and diligence you have to finally achieve the desired potential DoD IDES results.

To that extent, if you strongly believe that your DoD IDES case file wasn't adjudicated accurately, then a demand for a formal PEB hearing is potentially warranted. If not, then potentially leave it as is; take the DoD 30% and enjoy your forthcoming military disability retirement to include post-military endeavors!

Nonetheless, never default acceptance to potential injustice while within the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process since a potential loss of military disability compensation benefits could result in the end; in my opinion.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

And there is a lot to lose as the PEB can issue a whole new decision. An option for Army members is to go to the Disability Ratings Review Board after you are separated after you are medically retired. http://arba.army.pentagon.mil/Disability-Appeals.cfm

Indeed, as always thanks Mike; I shall store this information within my "brain housing group"...better yet I shall give it to my wife for future reference! ;)

Spoke with legal and made my decision. Signed my 199 today so as it stands %30 from DOD, %90 from VA PDRL. My PEBLO told me I could possibly recieve my seperation memo this afternoon. Thanks to everyone for all of your advice during this stressfull process and I hope everyone recieves the % that they deserve.

90-120 days, maybe less maybe more. consider atleast 30-45 days for army to "see" that the ratings are in the system, type up the 199, get you to sign it, then generate orders, reconcile leave/PTDY etc.
