Hello all, I was recently told that a MEB will be initiated for my PTSD. I am perfectly fine with that however, my provider is allowing me an opportunity to look at the write up behind said MEB. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? I'm just asking out of pure curiosity.

My psychiatrist did.

I saw mine as well.

Okay great, if you had any issues with what was said were you able to voice them? And if so, we're they changed? I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I've done some research lately and have a feeling I will be rated at 70%. My provider has been extremely helpful with the process it's all just new.

I was good with what he put down so I didn't need to say anything based of what I saw I expect to be on the 70% range as well. I have my C&P exam next week.

Look up the VA criteria ahead of time so when your doc shows you, you'll know exactly what you are looking at.

I guess it depends on what kind of rapport you've built up with your doctor. If I needed anything added/taken out of my write-up, my psychiatrist would change it if I asked him to. But the psychiatrist I'm talking about is my mental health PCM, who I've been seeing for more than a year. You're not talking about the doctor who wrote your NARSUM, are you? Your NARSUM carries more weight than your MEB write-up, so even if you don't get changes made to your MEB write-up, you can tell the doc who interviews you for your NARSUM, because they'll write down their own diagnosis based on your medical history AND that interview.

For instance, my NARSUM psychiatrist gave me a different diagnosis than my PCM psychiatrist based on our interview. Quite frankly, they both worked out in my favor. BUT, my mental health C&P exam was a train wreck, so I'm hoping the medical opinion of my psychiatrist who I've been seeing for 18 months and my NARSUM psychiatrist who interviewd for 4 hours straight and scoured my medical history, will overpower the opinion of the C&P examiner who didn't have the right medical records during our 30 minute interview.

I saw mine also.

That's a lot of info haha. The write up is being conducted by my regular BH provider so I'm assuming that I will see another psychiatric provider for the interview. He explained that I need to put my nerves to the way side and be completely honest. I suppose my anxiety has me jumping the gun, but I am pretty familiar with the criteria portion for all of my conditions I just hope that everything lines up. The LAST thing I want to do is fight but I will if I have to

Your BH provider and your NARSUM doc will be in communication so that your NARSUM will be on point, so you should be fine. :D

Can you request a copy of your intial NARSUM phone interview?

I've got more than just the PTSD stuff though I've got quite a bit going on from the Tbi section as well as physical and cardio conditions, I'm sure my Narsum will be good to hook my normal PCM has squared me away so far.

I'm not sure. You could ask your PEBLO. My PEBLO gave me copies of everything I've asked for so far.
