Question about NARSUM and condition.

When my husdband had his C&P exam, there were new things found. His PCM just decided to send him to have a nerve test done and referred him to a neurologist to have his back better looked at. He is suppose to see his completed NARSUM this week. My question is, if more information is obtained that could make it a "does not meet retention standards", how does he get that added? I mean, he can't just appeal the NARSUM on lack of detailed information, right? I very much doubt he will have an appointment within the next week and the neurologist's report. We are confused anyway because the xray report from the military hospital here said nothing about stenosis but whe then neurologist nurse called this morning, she said he has DDD with stenosis (I'm guessing the xray images were sent to them already). Sorry if this post seems all over the place and thanks for your time.

Yes, he can request that the NARSUM be corrected to reflect the proper information. Additionally, he can submit a rebuttal, request the MEB doc to add the data or request an Independent Medical Review (IMR). Don't sign it until you talk to legal.

So, he can wait to sign the NARSUM until he sees the neurologist and finds out more? Just trying to make sure I understand. His peblo is no help at all.

He can request to include the data from the neurologist. The only area that the PEBLO might push him is that they have a deadline to complete the package and get it to the MEB....how far out is your husband's appointment? If it is far out, he might try to get it asap so that he can get the data added and not bust the PEBLOS deadlines (although they sure don't mind busting ours).
There is some grey area here, the PEBLO wants to get the package done and out of his/her hair, while your husband wants to make sure his package is a true representation of his condition. It's much easier to get it right now than to have to add conditions after the fact.

As aviator said, request a IMR!

He just got the referral this week for the neurologist and is calling now to schedule the soonest appointment he can. His peblo sat on his paperwork for 3 weeks until he sent it for physicians review this past Friday. Him being lazy might actually help my husband out. Hoping he can get an appoinment this week for the neurologist.

Well I don't think things will be in his favor. He called around seeing when he can get the soonest nerve test done, every place he called said a month. Called the neurologist and the nurse said at least 2 weeks from this week for an appoinment. We are in Kansas so not many places around to call.

Would you go to Kansas City if you had the time? Only a suggestion!

He called triwest to get some more numbers. I think he wants Kansas City to be his last option because we have had so many appointments in Kansas City and Wichita for the both of us within the past year. The driving gets to you after awhile. Fingers crossed that topeka has more options. But if he has to, i will pester him until he gets tired of listening to me and calls places in Kansas City.
