Question about official letter

I know this is probably an "old song" by now around here but my husband finished the IDES process in late August and signed his forms in September of this year; he officially medically retired last month.

How long (typically) does it take from the end of the IDES process to get anything regarding his claim process from the VA?

I know he registered for eBenefits and we called this morning and the lady said she didn't know anything about his claim...

Most of the places that he needs his official letter won't take the "proposed" ratings.

This is a new process and the lady said it may take 15 months or so for this to be settled...15 months is a long time and we are living on savings plus whatever pay he is getting (minimum wage) while living with his dad who is living on SS...I don't start my job until next month. :/

Help please...any info/advice.

It takes about 1-5 months to get official ratings post retirement

Hopefully it is 1-5 months or so...hoping for 2 months at most.....he has plenty of documents for his conditions...and lots of medical files to back it up.

It took the VA 3 1/2 months to "finalize" my IDES VA ratings.

I also had a few conditions that were "deferred", so the VA "finalized" the ratings on the injuries that they could and I was paid 4 months after discharge for that percentage of finalized issues.

The "deferred" issues that were broken out from the initial finalized ratings took 18 months from time of discharge to "finalize".

But I did receive VA compensation during this time period for the initial finalized issues. The deferred issues came through and raised my overall disability percentage.

Were I not already rated at 100% P&T at time of initial finalization, those extra deferred issues that came later would have increased my VA compensation, AND the percentage differences between them would have been payable back to date of discharge.

So I think in your case, you will get a finalization percentage soon and be VA compensated for them. And IF you have deferred issues, then those will be the ones that will take additional time to get finalized. But even those will be retro to date of discharge if this be your situation from the VA IDES process.

At least, that's how it worked in my case with the Seattle & Portland VA Regionals.
