Permanent Retirement 50% / 100% VA

still sucks I wont be able to finish my last 4 years since im at 16.

but anyway, for being retired now, what are my next steps? What can I do and set up while im still on AD? Retiree ID? does my wife and kids have to get new dependant IDs? Tricare for retirees, when can I get that set up. stuff like that. Please educate me

On your last day of AD you can beta retiree card. TriCare for life only applies if you are on Medicare. You will pay a premium for TriCare. You have a choice between two plans. Once you have retirement orders, you can go by the TriCare office on base and make a choice.

You’re welcome

Slight correction to @chaplaincharlie about premiums. If medically retired the premium is waived for Tricare Select.

Where can I get information on the waiver of tricare for disability retirement? I looked on the Tricare website and didn’t find anything.
Its the exact same for everyone. Look up tricare select and tricare prime to compare. Just ignore $300 annual fee for tricare select as it will be waived. There is a coverage questionnaire you can fill out such as when you entered service and if you are active, reserve, gray area reserve or retiree. Answer those questions and then it will compare coverage between prime and select.

This is so strange…this is the first time I have checked on tricare and it showed $0 enrollment/premium! I must have never selected medical retirement or something, thanks for the knowledge!

Yep if you check medical retirement the Tricare select annual fee will not show up. I know a lot of people on Prime but I love Tricare Select. Give me freedom to pick who I go through and I don't need referrals to see a specialist!
