Recieved My Rating

Hello All,

I am active duty Air Force with 12 years. I recieved my IPEB decision on Friday. They offered me TDRL with 60% disability for DDD and OSA. My MEB/PEB was conducted under the legacy system. I was a little surprised with the outcome because I haven't seen very many people get any type of unfit rating for OSA. Needless to say I am happy with the offer. I think I am just happy that all of this is coming to an end, at least for now. I have been going through this entire process since the beginning of 2010. I am requesting my DOS to be 01 October. With 20 permissive days and a few terminal days I hope to be released from duty in September. I would like to say thank you to the creators of this site and to everyone that has given their opinions and advice.

Great to hear. Congratulations! I received my decision on Tuesday, now I'm just waiting for orders. Best of luck to you in the future!

Congradulations. From what I've been seeing here, it is strange to see a unfitting for OSA in the legacy system but I've heard it happens. I have been flying under the wire for a long time and the OSA finally got me to the MEB. I was shocked to see that it wasn't even addressed at my IPEB. These people never did a narative and it has been a mess. I do take some of the blame for not having an impartial review completed and I'm sure I did other things wrong as well. Good luck and I really was not trying to hijack your post.

Congrats on your rating....I agree, unfit for OSA is rare, but, hey, if they throw you a bone!!!

I'm so lost in the 'sauce' here! I just got my findings 60% DoD and 100% VA and I'm being adviced os something called Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC)a program that was created for disability and non-disability military retirees with combat-related disabilities. It is a tax free entitlement that I will be paid each month along with any retired pay you may already be receiving. I'm a MSgt/E-8 reservist on active duty being medically retired. I have a combination of combat related injuries:TBI, PTSD and the reason I have been kept on MEDHOLD, Cancer. Glad to report that now cancer free for 2 years. The surgeries left me with severe nerve damage causing ROM difficulty as well as apin. I have a total of 29 years 11 months of service. Active duty from 1982 to 1987, reserves from 1987 to present including ATD and drills total of 20 SAT years and since 2003 to present almost 7 years of mobilization/active duty time.
I have a meeting scheduled with my PEBLO at the MEDBOARD office at NH Balboa in San Diego on Wed. and I would like to have aclear vision of the 'road ahead' for me and familiarize myself with some of the Jargon that will be fired at me that day.

cah77,

Congrats!

You're right, I haven't heard of anyone retiring for sleep apnea for a few years now. 20 months is a long time to wait for an MEB to be processed. Hope you are okay.

How did you get to request your DOS? I had my formal board on the 4th and haven't heard anything about orders from AFPC...
