I was separated from the Army on November 24 2015 which was one week away from Infantry graduation for anxiety disorder with mixed mood. Which they said was adjustment disorder. I know I have to go through with BCMR. But can it be done, what will expect from them other than what I heard that I will never be able to get back in? A little background on what happened at Benning... I had got a heat stroke and had Pneumonia at the same time. I was hospitalized for almost a week, after I got out the Drill Sergeants noticed that I was different mentally. They sent me back to get a CT scan to check if I had any hemorrhage from the heat stroke. I wish they would have given me a MRI though to see how my brain was functioning instead of seeing if there was only "physical" damage. There was something wrong with my behavior, I was showing symptoms of depression. But I have done some research on NCBI and Medline (both medical websites ran by the government), I searched up how what happened can affect me. I found that strong antibiotics can mess with the brain. Levaquin was given to me which causes depression and sometimes psychosis. Heat stroke can also try your brain. And Pneumonia has a mental effect to it too, something about the impact of death. I should have died there, but I didn't... temperature of 108F is fatal and I was in that condition for three days before I had to get ice sheets and the EMTs were called.

Saying that, what do I do?

The RE code can be bypassed and you could apply for waivers and possibly be successful. Though the chances of that happening are very rare. I was an army recruiter and I think maybe 10% (if that much) of waivers were granted. It isn't very many.
If you happened to be successful in that you still would not be eligible for re-enlistment because of the heat stroke, the pneumonia, and the mental issues. Regardless of the cause of the mental issues they still did occur. All of these conditions have a higher rate of recurrence if you have had them previously. And mental health issues is not something the military overlooks any longer given the ramifications.

The only way you could reenlist would be to lie on your paperwork but that is such a bad idea. If you go back through basic and this happens again they will look through your medical records and find that you lied. That is a felony and an automatic dishonorable discharge.

But if it this something you want to try and see if they accept you after disclosing your health information you don't need to go through the BCMR. You are eligible for re-enlistment with a waiver. Just have to find a recruiter willing to try.
 
It is hard, I went to a Marine recruiter he said that I need a wavier for the RE3 and need to get above 50 on the ASVAB. I told him about BCMR and everything, he said look in to it, and get doctors notes. But he declined later because it's too much paper work. Then I went too a Army recruiter and showed him the medical research, he said I'm on to something and don't give up.
 
You can still apply to BCMR and have the codes changed and submit that documentation.
