Referral EPR and unable to promote after failed pt test.

I'm currently undergoing MEB for a low back condition which at one point was completely debilitating but is now on the mends. They keep waiting to find out if I get worse or not. I've been off my profile since october but recently took a pt test and failed by one situp.

Because it was right before my epr closeout, I've been given a referral epr and I've been told I can't put on SrA until next April after my new epr.

This has been extremely frustrating for me. I really like my job and I love the air force so my back condition and dealing with meb is bad enough. Now this. I was supposed to sew on in two months!

My superintendent told me that if I still have pain I should go back on profile and this whole thing would go away. I really really did not want to do that because it makes my med board look bad. Then I found out a couple weeks later that they cannot submit an appeal. My commander doesn't want to do that.

I really don't know what to do. I've been working so freaking hard. I'm good at my job. And I'm in better physical shape than some people. Honestly it was my injury combined with test anxiety. I did well in all the other areas.

I've considered going around the commander. I know afi 36-2905 says I can submit an appeal to the wing commander.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should have made an appointment immediately with your PCM so they could type up and MFR stating your condition was the reason you failed. I did that, wrote a very long rebuttal, got back on a profile and retested. I still had to eat the fail. Yes you can get the Wing CC involved as they are the final decision makers on throwing it out. If you have waited a week or 2, things will not be in your favor as I think the rule is 5 days.

Why did you PT test if your back was hurting? The forms you have to take to the PT testing site asks if you feel well enough to test...If your back was hurting enough to fail, you shouldn't have tested at all. With a referral, you can not promote or re-enlist. Go see your PCM, the med group can have invalidated based on your medical issues, but the longer you wait, the less likely it is that they will.

Sounds like you let pride get in the way and now want to figure a way out. Were you going through the MEB before the PT test? If so, you in all likelihood should have been on a profile, and that may have prevented you from doing sit-ups. Look into that possibility. My profile started the day my DAWG recommended an MEB for me.

Not how it works. It can only be invalidated by the WG CC. Even with that PCM letter, if you didnt stop the test and then go to be seen or make an appointment, it wont be tossed out. Even then you have 5 days to get that form signed. I did it, got the paper signed and still had to eat the fail because I didnt stop and walk off/quit. However I'm sure everyone remembers previously if you did not complete the entire test, you got a fail.
