I received my retirement orders yesterday, should these orders include dependents for the purposes of travel reimbursement? First time receiving orders with a spouse.

Also orders state that highest grade held on active duty is Capt and retirement grade is Maj. I will be pinning on Maj 1 July with a current retirement date of 22 Aug, final out will be second week of July (pending amendment to shift to the left), shouldn’t highest grade held on active duty show Maj or am I missing some type of time with rank requirement?

Hmmm. that's strange. Should be promoted to MAJ on the last day before you retire. So you got on the promotion list. Bitter sweet I bet! My wife was promoted while in IDES. It was a happy day but also a bit sad because she had only 6 months of her new higher pay to be calculated into her HIGH 3. Your situation is a bit worse. You get to say retired MAJ but in all reality your pay will be in line for HIGH 3 at a Captain level.

I would ask HRC. I am assuming you are Army. If not contact what ever its called for your human resources dept.

I’m Air Force. I was on the promotion list long before my MEB was started and anticipated I would be retained however I am content with the outcome. I am more invested in my health than being on AD longer to ensure Maj pay is factored into the equation. Would’ve been convenient if I had an earlier line number though. I didnt think the transition turnaround would be so fast that it would impact my highest grade held on active duty tho… just want to ensure records are accurate. Ill touch base with the mps

So if you dont pin on before separation, you will be "promoted" on your last day in service and your record will show you retired as a major?
