Retirement pay fiasco

Just got off the phone with DFAS, HRC and fixin to call another number i was given.

Apparently my high average was not sent to DFAS, so i will not be getting paid.

HRC said i was still showing up as Active Duty. So now i have to call another place.

When i got my retirement ID they said i was still showing as Active Duty as well but made a change and i was able to get my ID.

According to HRC it will only hold that temporary and kick it back to previous status eventually. What a huge pain.
 
The number HRC gave me to call basically said they have no idea why HRC routed me to them. Its HRC responsibility and to call DFAS again and have them request my info from HRC.

HRC says they cant do anything about it until the department they forwarded me to changes my status. Love it.

Today i did notice mypay change of sections.

Instead of it saying, "your army active duty pay account" and "your military retiree pay account" it now says, "your seperated active duty account" and "your military retiree pay account" so maybe sometime between now and when i die i will get paid.
 
Who did HRC say was in charge of updating your status?
 
42 days after retirement my VA claim completed today. Still no receipt of retirement pay, hoping that now that my claim is closed i will get paid soon, either full pay or backpay.

Also, i now have a new claim that states, "Mil Ret Pay Data From Dfas"

Great news, hopefully you will receive payment soon. I am still waiting for the USAPDA to send DFAS my new orders and updated pay percentage.

Thanks. Im crossing my fingers. Looking at your timeline it looks like youve been in receipt of pay. Va will only back pay to 30 days after my retirement date correct?

I wonder if DoD is going to backpay me or pass the buck to the VA now that its finalized.

I retired 30MAR16, so looks like im only eligible for 13 days of payment from the VA right now and ill get paid 1APR? Am i tracking this right. I had my information lined up but with all these blows im now second guessing.
 
In order to receive VA pay you have to be separated (retirement date) from the military for 30days, so yes you are correct.

DFAS will pay you the higher of the two (DoD or VA)

I may be wrong, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am, I believe your first payment from the VA should have started on 01 May because of the 30 day rule.

Yes I am currently in receipt of pay but I recently had a TDRL reevaluation and was moved to the PDRL with an increased percentage.

Are your claimed disabilities combat related?

Reading up on it again. I believe youre correct that i should have been eligible for payment on 1MAY through the VA, but it had not completed yet.

Also, i noticed my effective date shows 1MAY on my VA benefit verification letter. I believe it should be the day after i was released from duty/retired?

No, none of my conditions fall under or are eligible for CRSC.

Your VA effective date is correct as 1 May, I retired from the Army on 28 Feb 14 with a VA effective date of 1 April 14 (30 days after retirement).

Just an update. My MSC at IDES emailed and called me today to let me know my case has been finalized even though i was already tracking. I used this contact to ask about pay.

I "SHOULD" expect a full and normally scheduled va payment 1 june for the month of may and thereafter on time as scheduled. However, my payment for 1may to cover the month of april will be withheld from retro pay until dfas notifies va of what im owed or was supposed to be paid.

Dfas contacted me today as well to tell me my high 3 was finally updated and i should expect payment within 3-5 business days. Assuming this is to cover the month of april.

I had previously used the 800 number at the va to ask about hypothetical situation on pay and they wouldnt even really discuss it.

So, as long as the rest of the va adheres to what the MSC says is supposed to happen i will be paid soon and it couldnt have come at a better time.
