Retiring, to sell or not to sell leave?

I have a really odd financial decision that may be the difference of whether I recieve thousands of dollars. I have just finished my Medboard process and am waiting on orders now. I was told that it can take between 7 to 14 days for my orders to be cut. The kicker is that I can basically choose with my retirement date.

Here is what I have:

I get up to 20 days of PTDY, I can get out on the 31st of July, have my VA benefits start on the 1st of August which would be the $4,040~ from disability + $5k from my saved leave + BAH from the VR&E program I am doing. Which would be about $10k~ for the month of August paid out on the 1st of September.

Versus staying in, taking terminal leave for 40 days and earning my normal paycheck of $5,400 for the month of August plus a bit for September, ON TOP of not receiving VA benefits til October. So I believe it's worse for me to take terminal instead of just separating in late July. The only downside is possibly having to wait for my VA benefits to kick in and recieve backpay, which I am fine with as I have money saved up for just this event.

Do you think it is possible for me to have my orders to retire by late July given this would be better for me monetarily? 7-14 days for them to cut orders would be around the 11th of July, which means I should be able to just take that 20 days of PTDY.

Unless you think my math is wrong or there is something I am not considering? My MSC recommended I get out late in the month versus earlier so my VA benefits start on the 1st of the next month.

Please let me know what you guys think!

Here's the issue that always catches my attention- do you gain or lose by having BAH or other allowances by remaining on active duty, or do you get more by getting out sooner?

It probably does not matter much in the big picture, but that consideration caught my eye.
