When getting rated based on spine injuries and using the range of motion test. Do they use the number when pain is onset or the max that you can go or somewhere in between??
Does anyone know where to find out? I cant find it in cfr 38.

thanks

I may not be 100% correct. The the intent of the ROM is to see what you can to do day in day out. There is a difference between going all the way once (or several times with in 5 minutes.) Compared to being able to do the same measurement several times a day through out the week. When your ROM is done, if not already, the PT will note only how far you can go, additionally he/she should state if you were limited by pain/ guarding exctra.

When I had my ROM done for my PEB it was done wrong and now I am having to go to the FPEB. I was asked to go as far as I could, and I did (and I was off my meds). But when done I was in tears, had to take perk, and had a worker help me walk to my vehicle (as I was in tears and a hand rail only went part way). The next day, a tuesday, I was placed on quarters for 48hrs, once off that I was placed on quarters for another 24 hrs, and I think I was placed on quarters on Friday also all due to my back being flared up. The numbers that I achieved from that ROM equals 20%. Tell me, do you think that is an accurate representation of a functional ROM? Something to think about.
