Scheduled for surgery, pending PEB results still????

Going in for surgery on June 12 2012 for a small bowel resection that has been an on going battle with chrons. Stating that my doctors dictation said i was in remission back in early march when my board was sent out, how can i go about adding this chrons condintion worsening, and having a small bowel resection. Surgeon and GI doc said they can write an adendum and try to either reconsider my IPEB findings which should be back soon, or Appeal to FPEB.
Any thoughts on how i should handle this?

When did your packet go up? Where is it at currently (if known)? I'd say if it's already in the ratings phase, and on it's way back to your PEBLO then no addendum is going to make it anyways and you would have to wait and see what the findings are. It is possible the findings are agreeable to you and would the condition worsening add anything to the ratings percentage? i.e would they go up? These are questions I cannot answer for you but just some fruit for thought. As for the surgery, it most definitely needs to be addressed in your records, and I would have the addendum done and copies of it so that if you decide that the IPEB / VA Ratings are NOT agreeable to you and wish to challenge them in a FPEB settings, then you have the most current information to work with.

Hope that helps a little!
Prayers and good luck with the surgery!

You could also request that all board action be suspended until after surgery and recovery.......... ;)

Upon reading a little bit about your disease it looks as though the bowel resection is not a cure for your condition but a temporary fix. With that in mind, I would request to suspend all PEB actions until after the surgery and completion of recovery. Be sure to sit down with your doctors and ensure that their adendums will support your desired outcome which I would assume to be found UNFIT for duty. If you're all on the same page then go through your surgery and re-engage the board process with the new evidence and additional adendums.

Thanks to all for replying. I was told by my case manager that my proposed ratings were 10%DOD , 30%VA. My package is at providence. It was mailed out 13 mar 2012. My GI doc is well aware of the condition getting worse as i have been in the ER a few times since the package has been mailed out. So i assume my findings should be back in mid to end of July. I go in for surgery 12 June than have a 7 day stay in the hospital, followed by 30 days con-leave. The surgeon is going to prepare an addendum for me to take to reconsideration or FPEB so that i have it when the time comes. Just don't know how the FPEB process works and have all the MRI and will now have ALTHA notes from surgery to back it up as well as addendum's from surgeon and GI doc. Just weary of the board still not getting me to the MAGIC 30% DOD. I also have all my most current up to date ALTHA notes printed out with GI and Surgeon statements from ER visits and date of apts. Now will just need the Inpatient ALTHA and following addendum's. Just weary about how the reconsideration or FPEB process works.
Thanks to all for the helpful input:)
